I had this account for one reason: to ask a question about dealing with the fact that my SIL was raped....but now I need it for this (I don't want to make a third account).

Anyways. I hope this is the right place for me. I have a toddler son, and we've been trying for a little over a year to get pregnant again. I took a pregnancy test today and it was another BFN. This one really hit me hard; I cried a few different times. My husband cried with me and he's not a crier. It is taking a toll on him too. I usually love looking at baby clothes and baby stuff, and sneaking a peak at the teeny tiny baby in the grocery store. Now, I just want to get the eff away from everything related to babies.

I don't want to go on any medications to get pregnant (I hope that's not insensitive to say). I don't know what else I should be doing though. My periods have been irregular (my last cycle was almost 50 days long). Does anyone here have low progesterone? Is anyone here using "natural" (meaning no clomid or medications) methods of trying to get pregnant with IF? I haven't been to the doctor yet. I keep thinking "this will be our month" and then get discouraged. I know an IF journey can take a long time; I've had family members (none of them blood) go through IF. Any advice or words of encouragement are greatly appreciated! I hope to be of some help to you ladies.

I think most of the women on this board have taken some kind of medication to help with infertility. There are some natural means to help boost fertility. I know some women do acupuncture (I have not). I did want to say something about your cycles cause I do know something about long cycles. If your cycles are that long, you probably aren't ovulating. Even if you do ovulate, your chances are really low of getting pregnant because with long cycles, your lining gets too thick and old and isn't conducive to the egg implanting.

I think you should check out the Trying To Get Pregnant board, and consider charting your cycles for a while. You just said you don't want to take medications, that doesn't really give much info in what you have been trying do far. How about ovulation tests? Maybe start there?

This is not the board for you, like the PP mentioned, the majority of this board is doing medicated cycles/ IUIs/ IVFs as well as intensive testing- Hopefully you don't get to this stage, but this is a great support group IF you need it in the future.

This is all really ignorant. If she is getting her period at all, she is about 95% most definitely ovulating, and cycle length really has nothing to do with how thin or thick your lining will be- your hormones are what play a role in lining development. Tons of people get pregnant with long (or short) cycles.

Truth... My nurse even told me when they started looking at my lining that cycle length AND heaviness of your AF has nothing to do with lining.

I think a year is just the beginning but that might just be me. I think that most of us at this point are all in with testing and medical treatment or at least have started that path. Charting is a really good way to start. I know I have found myself to be anovulatory most months though charting if you don't ovulate it doesn't work.

I am not ignorant! Getting a period does not ensure ovulation! Lot's of women are annovulatory, including myself, I get periods (irregular as they may be) but i don't ovulate. And I never said she couldn't get pregnant, I know people get pregnant all the time with a variety of difficulties. I apologize for not mentioning hormones, I know they play a role. A cycle of 50 days is not normal, especially if that is happening every cycle. It is probably a sign of something hormonal.
