Your Baby's personality

What is your baby's personality, or more like temperament, overall? Has it been the same since birth, or has it changed?

Re: Your Baby's personality

  • This LO is really laid back for the most part, and she has been from birth. Though recently she's been becoming way more vocal and demanding when she wants something. I think she already realizes that's she has a very loud, boisterous older sister to compete with. I think it's really cute though.

  • She's so happy and easy and always has been. Since she was born, the only thing she ever cries about is if she's gassy or hungry. I say it all the time, we won the baby lottery with her.

  • My little girl is pretty chill and laid back. She only really cries when she's hungry or overtired. She likes to pretend she's shy and tuck her chin and smile up at you and I'll say "you're not shy!" and she'll giggle. She's also stubborn because every time I go to change her she stiffens her legs with the strength of a baby elephant so I can't take her legs out of her pjs and when I say give me your leg she pokes out her bottom lip then growl at me lol, it's so cute. She's a character, she's going to have a great sense of humor :-)
  • My LO is a happy baby and will often just be smiling at random people because she LOVES attention so much, so she gets a bit fussy and annoyed if you aren't paying her attention in some way. She is also a very hyperactive baby, like she has never been one to just sit still...She is go go go all the time! I only noticed how much so when we had her next to a relatives baby the exact same age last week...Their baby just laid their so peaceful and calm and our LO was rolling around laughing and kicking this other baby (yes kicking, sucking her hand, hitting her in the face etc! Lol) and you can tell she has a bit of a cheeky personality already!! It's crazy at 3 and a half months how much of a personality our little LO has already!
  • Mine's pretty social. She loves smiling at people. She "talks" a lot too. She seems to have a really sweet temperament. Cries when she's hungry or extra tired and she doesn't like to be ignored. (Not that we ignore her, but if we're not looking and talking to her she kind of makes random sounds and looks pissed).

  • DD loves attention. So much more than her brother ever did. I can hardly remember her DS crying over anything more than being hungry or tired. DD is more vocal and lets us know when she is not happy. But overall, she is a very happy baby and absolutely loves talking and playing with us. I can get belly laughs out of her for days and I adore it.

DD is very sweet and relaxed, she definitely takes her time. When she was a newborn she slept a ton and would take 45 minutes to drink 2-3 ounces. Now she likes to smile, coo and grab her toys but has zero interest in rolling over, won't even try. When put on her tummy she just tries to snuggle lol.

DS was the total opposite, never slept, super active, and early with all of his physical milestones. Now he is an energy-infused wild kid, it's crazy how early their personalities develop.

  • I would say dd is a pretty good baby. Not the easiest but not the hardest either. That has been pretty consistent. She likes attention but can now entertain herself for a bit. Pretty good sleeper, which has always been the case. Doesn't talk a whole lot and really makes us work for her laughs, but she's getting more generous with her smiles. Still likes body parts more than toys. She is a very focused baby too. Pretty good attention span for a wee one.

    We're one and done!
  • Pretty happy kiddo, chill for the most part.  Gets pretty pissed when he is tired though, then just conks out. ;)

  • As a newborn, DS was the fussiest baby I had ever heard of!  Unless he was eating or sleeping (which was rare), he was screaming.  He would sometimes even scream while he ate!

At about 2 months old he began to be more content watching his surroundings.  He is now very observant, loves to make noises and grabs everything.  His Daddy can make him giggle on demand and he loves to stare at me, especially when I sing to him!

  • Jackson was a pretty needy newborn, but he definitely wasn't as bad as he could've been. I will say that he's definitely mellowed out. Now he's as laid back as they come! He does goes from 0-60 when he wants or needs something though.

  • My LO is not shy. She loves attention and is very animated. She also loves going out. She enjoys riding in the car and loves watching people when she is out. Sometimes if she is having a fussy day at home, I take her out and she immediately goes into a better mood.

  • DS is like his daddy, can be very laid back but he is also very smiley. He rarely cries but has no problem fussing at you to let you know he needs something.
  • My little girl is happy and easy going, she had been this way from birth, nothing has changed. She is very curious and loves seeing what's going on in her environment. The only reason she cries is if she needs something - is she's hungry, has pooped or is very tired.
  • I would say that my LO is laid back and playful. He likes to be entertained with toys, noises and music. He likes new things to keep his attention. He is content most of the time. He has meltdowns when he is overtired and I wait to long to get him to sleep, or when he has gas...he does not like having gas.

  • LO is a very calm, curious, mellow kid.  She is pretty serious, but will laugh at certain things.  She is also a lot more patient than some adults I know.  Her patience amazes me.

Personality-wise, she has been like this since birth, although her curiosity grows (maybe because she is becoming more aware of the various things around her).  She rarely cries and seems content to entertain herself most times.

I'm almost afraid to have more kids because her labor/delivery were pretty easy, and she is hands-down the easiest baby I've ever encountered.

  • My LO was pretty fussy as a newborn but that was partly due to gas. Hes never been a great napper, fights naps every time but is so cranky when he's tired. .. that hasn't changed. For the most part he's a very happy baby now, only gets fussy when he's hungry or tired. Hes always smiling and loves attention and love :) He has a short attention span so we gotta change it up with his toys, what he's doing etc pretty frequently. He always wants to go go go and gets frustrated because he cant. I have a feeling he's gonna be a little ball of energy and definitely will keep us on our toes!

  • DS is high maintenance, very needy, and fussy. He moves constantly or you need to be moving him. He doesn't like to hang out on his own, that is getting better though, and wants to be held all the time. He is always hungry. Half the time I still don't know what he wants when he's unhappy.

DD was the complete opposite. She was the easiest baby ever! She liked to just hang out and watch everything around her. She entertained herself really well early on. If she was crying you knew there was really something wrong. Otherwise she would fuss a little, you could fuss back at her and she would be happy again - just wanted to make sure you hadn't forgotten about her.

If DS had been our first, he would have been an only child.
  • DS only cries when hungry or tired. He is quiet and attentive. He seems to be studying his environment. He smiles a lot and loves it when DH or I act silly for him. He has a delightful laugh. People always comment on how he's an attentive, happy baby.

  • I think we won the lottery too! She's been a sleeper since day one. But she has a routine to get her down: blankey wrapped, hold her with her head in your elbow and her paci and shes out! She doesn't really cry or fuss unless she hungry or tired. The child does not poop. I clean a poopy diaper about once a week. It's totally healthy and normal for breastfed babies, and she's not in any discomfort. She laughs and 'talks' to us. She likes to play and be tossed around. She's just so fun!!!

However, this past weekend her motto was "sleep is for sissies!!!". For no apparent reason the girl did not want to sleep.

DD is a snuggler, big time. She loves to get a nuzzled into you and hold onto your shirt, she goes nuts about kisses too, she loves 'em! She is typically very happy and smiley but when she's in a mood, she is in a MOOD. And she's started doing thing ear piercing scream when she is. It's actually kind of cute though, and everyone has bad days :)

She is a great sleeper at night too, terrible with naps but sleeps through the night. She has to look around and see absolutely everything that's going on so she just fights naps like crazy, it's like she doesn't want to miss a thing. And she's so happy every morning, I love her adorable faces when I first get her up!

That's funny... he's also very curious. .loves to be walked around to look at everything. Even when I hold him he can't just sit back, he's gotta be sitting straight up watching everyone lol

  • My DD is so feisty! My goodness she really knows how to express herself when she's upset. All the nurses at our health center get such a kick out of her, the way she screams and shouts at them when they try to get her measurements. She's definitely a mommys girl and wants to be held by me all day every day! Lol everyone says she'll be saying crazy things when she can talk.. My feisty little shark, gotta love it! She's the total opposite of content and relaxed.
