Infant beauty marks/moles

Hi. I will obviously be asking our ped about this but just wondering if any of your babies had develope a beauty mark/ mole that they weren't born with. C has one on her cheek that jut showed up in the last few days. I covered her in sunscreen in Australia and Mexico but I dot know much about these things so I'm worried about why it would suddenly appear. Anyone know anything about this?

Re: Infant beauty marks/moles

  • I distinctly remember one day when I was around 2 or 3... I had a mole appear on my hand. I washed and washed my hands and cried because it wouldn't go away. I think it's common.

  • Ds developed a darker colored patch about the size of a quarter on his stomach. It kind of looked like a bruise. I asked the ped and she said it was a birth mark and not to worry.

  • DD has one on her forehead that appeared about 2 months ago. Its more of a beauty mark then a mole as its not raised at all. I'm not to concerned and will be waiting till her next appt to bring it up. However if it was raised I may be slightly more concerned.

  • DD has a birth mark on the inside of her thigh. I noticed it around 2 months old. She still had it, it's smothe and hasn't changed shape or anything but I will always have the doctor check it at her check ups.

  • A had two birthmarks--one she was born with and most of the women in my fam I have, and a second that came in just before her two month appointment. The doctor actually noticed it first and said, "Don't worry; that's a birthmark. It may or may not go away." I nodded and then worried because I hadn't even noticed. It's gotten darker/more noticeable since.
