Open season is upon us and my husband and I are trying to decide if we want to stick with CareFirst BlueShield of MD or switch to Kaiser for when the baby is born in May. I have had great care through CareFirst but I have heard really wonderful things about Kaiser. I know they have a "one stop shop" medical facility at Columbia Gateway. I was wondering if any Moms out there have had experience with Kaiser's pre-natal care or giving birth with their plan? Can you order a breast pump ahead of the birth? Do they cover doulas? Could you give birth in any hospital?
Thanks!
Re: Kaiser Permanente in Columbia
I have Kaiser and was just at a checkup the other day and signed up for the couple of classes you take in the later months of pregnancy with them.
there is a Breastfeeding class (i'm attending in March in Gaithersburg - since that is where my OB is) and the nurse mentioned to ask about the breast pump at that class. One of my co workers (also with kaiser) just had a little boy in October and they gave the pump to her before she left the hospital.
i'm going to be looking into the Pediatricians at the Columbia Gateway soon since we live around the corner. if anyone has recommendations there, please let me know!
