Getting the run around

I'm getting the run around from the doctors office about my 3 hour glucose test. I was supposed to get the results yesterday but we had a snow storm so the office was closed. Today, I called for the results they said the doctor has them and that they can't tell me what they are the doctor has to tell me and will call me later. Fine. Then they went on to say that I will likely need a follow up appointment which does not sound good

    That doesn't sound like "the runaround" to me.  I know it's frustrating that they were closed yesterday, but normal office staff usually aren't allowed to release test results over the phone.  In my clinic it's only doctors (not even nurses) that are allowed to release test results, and they make you answer a ton of security questions if it's over the phone.

    I hope you get results soon, and that you passed :-)

    I'm going to have to agree. They weren't giving you the run around but likely aren't authorized to give you the results.

    I work at a vets office as a licensed tech. Sometimes I really want to tell an owner their pets bloodwork is normal but I'm not allowed.

    If there is something abnormal on there then the client/patient is going to ask questions and the person on the phone may not have the training to answer those questions.

    It's frustrating but in everyone's best interest to let the doctor give you the results.

    My office wasn't allowed to tell me either.  I just keep telling myself "no news is good news."  I decided to just wait to find out until my next appointment.

    Thanks guys. The doctor called me at like 6 pm but for some reason my phone never rang and I just got a voicemail asking for me to call him back but he didn't leave his number so I left a message with the service. I was surprised they wouldn't give me the results as they have given me other test results in the past is all.
