More Etsy Talk

I have decided on the name OMGtots (which could potentially change 500 times before I actually open up shop) and now I have some pricing questions for y'all since you have been so helpful thus far. I will be mostly selling bandana bibs, and headbands with some leggings thrown in. I am attaching a pic of each product (the headband pic is not mine, but it is the style I make) Based on prices I see on similar products on Etsy, I was thinking of the following prices. What do y'all think? Too high? I want to actually make some $$, but I don't want my prices to be too high either!

Leggings: $16-$18 (saw some for as much as $32!)

Bibs: $7-$8 or a 2 pack for $12-$14. (saw some for $12 but most about $8)

Headbands: $5 or a 3 pack for $12 (saw some for $10ea!)

I could probably go a little lower on the headbands and bibs, but the leggings are harder to make so I wouldn't do much less than $16, and maybe not do leggings at all.

Thanks!!

Are the leggings pants or like tight girl leggings?

The other 2 prices are good :)

They are like pants. Here is K in his that I made:

ETA: I would make the girl ones tighter like actual leggings

  • @jfresh and @hibiscus29 Honestly, I would not pay that much for pants either, but apparently a lot of people that actually buy on Etsy would! maybe I'll make a small inventory and price them at $18 and if none sell, I'll just keep lowering it until they do?? I don't know. I don't want to make a ton if I am only going to make like $10 on them though. I make some flannel pants that are a little looser fitting and would sell them for a lot less since flannel is so much easier to work with and cheaper to buy than the knit fabric, but I really want to have all knits in my shop.

  • I agree with the other girls, but people who frequent Etsy tend to pay more.  It sounds like you've done your research and priced appropriately, so I say give it a shot.

  • I think your prices are reasonable for etsy.  Although I agree with the PP's that I wouldn't pay that much for leggings myself.  But I know there's a market for it, so I'd say give it a try.
  • Thanks everyone! Maybe I'll make my small batch and if none sell I can always have K wear them!

  • Prices sound right, but the leggins are a bit pricey. May be $15? Why do you want to limit to knits only? You could make a nice cotton pants for summer and price them for more?

  • I wouldn't pay more than $10 for the leggings.  But, go ahead and see if you can sell them for higher... if they don't sell, you could discount them, right?
