body pillows/support belts?

Anyone have any suggestions on best brand of pregnancy body pillows or maternity support belts? Maybe something not too expensive...been having a lot of hip pain at night and was wondering if either of these would help some or if there is something else I can try, I am 24 weeks now, thanks!

Re: body pillows/support belts?

  • I just bought a $10 body pillow from Target and have been happy with it.  I just couldn't justify $50-$70 for one of those pregnancy snuggle pillows.  Perhaps give that a try and if it doesn't work out it was only $10.

  • Same as @motoLyn I bought a Target body pillow. I also bought a really nice temperpedic side sleeper pillow and that has been amazing. I plan to use it as a nursing pillow too bc it has a good curve in it. A support belt I could totally get into right about now, she is laying very low. If you find a good one let us know!

  • My hubby bought me one for Christmas called the snoogle. It curls in all different directions and is extremely comfortable. He found it on Amazon. I'm not sure how much it cost, but whatever he paid was worth it! Hope that helps!
  • I have the Leachco Back n' Belly Chic for sleeping and absolutely love it. I'm also using Baby belly band Abdominal Belt and Compression Therapy Groin bands. (sorry for the weird wording, had to copy/paste from my amazon orders since I couldn't remember what they were called exactly)

  • last pregnancy I loved my snoogle.  I used it for a little while this time around but now it's not comfy anymore and I am back to my regular body pillow.

  • I got the snoogle. i don't use it every night yet, but i think i will be soon. i got it at Buy Buy Baby with a 20% off coupon so it was less than $50.

Apparently, it also doubles a a specially contoured dog support pillow.

This is true. My furbaby loves my pillow even more than I do I think.

  • I bought a boppy pregnancy pillow and hated it. It was too hard to move around with. I bought a regular body pillow from Walmart and am ATTACHED to it like no other. Couldn't sleep without it.
  • I don't have a special pillow, but i do have 6 regular pillows i use to configure my nightly sleep-fort.

i did break down and invest in this sexy support belt, and my hips and pelvis have been so much happier since:

  • Snoogle! I seriously can't say enough about it. I was having a very difficult time sleeping, tons of hip pain and sciatica at night. My sister sent me one and literally the very first night I used it, I slept like a baby. My H loves it as well--because I am comfortable and because he can snuggle up against it, too. I will be purchasing one for anyone I know who gets pregnant in the future. Well, a Snoogle and yoga pants. God knows I can't live without those either. GL!
  • My BIL bought a Snoggle for my SIL but she ended up going into labor before Christmas (when he was planning on giving it to her) so he ended up gifting it to me instead. I have found that when I roll it into a snail my legs don't touch at all, and I end up on my back a lot less often. I also end up waking without pelvic pain. I haven't used it as a full body support yet.

The Snoggle is huge, but I really like that I can move it around and shape it. If you don't want to pay 50-80 for a pillow I am sure that a 10 dollar pillow from Target will do fine. I wasn't planning on shelling out money for a maternity pillow, mine was a gift.

  • Thanks for the responses! Think I will try a regular body pillow and see how that goes, may invest in a snoogle at some point though. The dog pics were cute lol.
  • My hubby bought me a Snoogle back in November for my birthday.  It took me a little while to get used to sleeping with it but I LOVE it!  It's like sleeping on a cloud!!
  • my snoogle was the best 60$ i ever spent at bed bath and beyond. this includes my keurig purchase so....yeah, that's saying something. i wouldn't have slept for the past week without it.

  • Hubby bought me a snoogle.  I love it with all my heart.  And I am interested to see the feedback on support belts...I can already tell that is going to come in handy for me in the near future.

  • After weeks of being uncomfortable, I'm about to cave and order the snoogle. It sounded pricey at first but now it would be a small price to pay for a better nights sleep.

  • Does anyone have a snoogle mini? I have a regular snoogle I borrowed from a friend, and it feels amazing at first, but then my arm always falls asleep tucked under the top part. Was thinking about getting either a mini or a boppy cuddle pillow, so that I only have the bottom support for the belly and legs. In the interim, I'm using a series of regular pillows and it's not working out great.

  • DH got me a Snoogle for Christmas, and it's wonderful.  DS thinks it's pretty awesome, too.  I don't use it every night yet, but I can totally see me wrapped up in that thing come March or so...

THIS. I am very curious on snoogle mini reviews?
  • I got the Snoogle, but I am not using it "correctly." I ball up one side of it and put it under my hips. Then I sleep with a regular pillow on top of the other side. It helps to support my hips, which is all that I need to sleep well.

I realized that a regular pillow under my hips worked just as well, but I realized this fact on the day that I had already placed my Snoogle order. Oh well.
  • I really wanted the snoogle pillow, but when I saw it was $60, I just couldn't do it. I mean really--$60 for a pillow?? That I'll use for 4-5 months?? So I went to tjmaxx and got a regular king-sized pillow for $13 and I sleep like a baby with it. It's a little smaller than a body pillow so it's nice that I can move it around more easily but it's plenty big enough to snuggle both my arms and legs around.
  • I got a Snoogle for Christmas and I freaking love it. $50 is a lot for a pillow, but good sleep is priceless. I got something called "The Ultimate Maternity Support Belt" at Destination Maternity, and it really seems to help my low back pain. I mostly just wear it at work bc I work 12 hr shifts and I'm on my feet a lot. It's not so comfortable when I sit for a long time, but then I just loosen it. I would say both are a good investment. The support belt was around $30.

  • I got a Snoogle for Christmas and love it. DH and the pets love it, too! Who says you have to stop using it after the baby gets here?!

  • Omg! I got a body pillow from Target and absolutely NO pain at all last night (except for my right side but that is an entirely different issue that I will not get into here). Am also looking into the support belts that were suggested to see if that would help me during the day...thanks!!
  • I just started having back issues while sleeping and they last in the morning for an hour or two.
I feel like I'm in a pillow bubble at night. I read to try a pillow under my belly(while on my side) one behind my back and one between my legs! Seriously?! I can't sleep like that. I tried and it doesn't even help. My back still aches.
I'm not sure if I should but a snoogle or just try a belly belt. Not sure how I'm gonna last with this discomfort until May.
  • I got a free support belt at the hospital on base. It was awesome. As far as body pillow, I got one at target when I was pregnant with DD. I still use it now and I love it. I think it was like $15.

  • I love my Snoogle, I got mine at a discounted price on drugstore.com and bought a jersey slip cover for it also. I use a support belt for exercising and I got the FITsplint, I love it and never work out without it.
