I have a problem...

...Zulily...I have 5 pending orders--two  of maternity clothes and 3 of baby clothes. I still don't know if LO is a boy or a girl, so I am "alternating" buying boy/girl clothes along with some gender neutral stuff. I'm rationalizing it with the fact that about 8 girls I know are currently pregnant, and I can give as gifts the clothes I end up not needing. That's perfectly reasonable, right? What have you ladies gone a little out of control on for baby?

Re: I have a problem...

  • There is a ton of stuff I want to buy on there, but haven't bought anything yet.  I am eyeing some of those TX shirts though!
  • Loading the player...
  • I just have to stop myself from even looking at Zulily. I'm justifying buying clothes for DD by thinking that both her and this LO will be able to wear them since they're only a year apart.

    Totally reasonable.

I was bad with clothes at first, but now it's diapers.  I keep buying various sizes when I find a sale and have coupons and have built up a pretty amazing stockpile so far of sizes N-3 (I spoke to all of my mom friends who told me which sizes to really stock up on).

The plan is to take some unpaid time off from work in the fall so I might as well buy them now while an extra $20-30 a week doesn't hurt.  That's my rationalization.
  • Sounds reasonable to me! I haven't gone excessive on anything yet.

My husband and I talked about it, and I'm no longer allowed to visit zulily. It's best for everyone involved!

  • I used to love Zulily, but had 3 orders in a row be wrong, damaged, or incomplete. Super disappointed. They gave me $10 credit but can't bring myself to order from there again.

  • Are their prices even reasonable? The last I looked they only had designer clothes so it was more than I like to spend on kids clothes anyway.
  • @RugbyMamma, this is so disappointing to hear.  I hope they've gotten their act together.

@asparagus95, I pretty much have an "under $10 only" rule... the stuff I ordered was mostly playclothes/bodysuits/pant sets and I think all the sets were $7.99.

  • I've ordered a ton from Zulily, I've only received one damaged item, their downfall is their shipping time.

@asparagus95, some things are outrageously priced, but they have some pretty good deals as well.

  • The lure of Zullily is intoxicating!  I am trying to curb my desire to buy maternity dresses.  Its come to the point where I delete the emails without opening them.
  • I don't even log on to Zulilly anymore!

If I were you, I would splurge on clothes from other stores...that way, if you end up with a bunch of gender-inappropriate clothes you can at least return them for money.  Zulily doesn't allow returns :(

  • I've ordered more than I can count on Zulily and have never had anything come damaged.  MIL ordered Beb something for Christmas with guaranteed christmas delivery and it didn't make it (post office delay), she told Zuliliy and they refunded her her shipping and gave her a $20 credit.

Re: Prices: I price check everything.  When in doubt, Google!
Sometimes their prices are spectacular, like on good shoes SKR, Pediped, Livie & Luca, Stride Rite, etc.  Or Halo, RuffleButts, Doddle Pants, BabyLegs just to name some of the things i've bought recently. :P
Also, they sometimes have special brand boutiques like lucy and Toms that sell out quickly but you cannot beat the prices.
The other day the had KidKraft and the prices wren't any better than Amazon.

  • I thought I was being excessive buying 6 outfits last weekend (1 of the 6 was a 5 pack of onesies) plus I ordered a Halo sleeper and Blooming Bath on Gilt. If y'all don't get on Gilt, check them out too. Not the cheapest but cute kids stuff and maternity clothes.
  • Zulily will be the end of me- seriously obsessed. Their shipping time is super slow and I find their shipping costs to be expensive though. I am also obsessed with the clearance pages on Carter's and Janie and Jack. This little girl will have more clothes than we will know what to do with at this rate!
  • I did buy some doodlepants from Zulily, but I limited myself to two pairs for our LO and one pair for my best friend who is also pregnant. We have bought maybe 15 or so outfits in sizes ranging from newborn to 12 months, so I don't think we have gone too crazy. I am trying to restrain myself on clothes because I know I am getting some hand me downs from my cousin mailed to me, but it is really hard. Once Upon a Child is having a clearance sale on Saturday though and I have to go to that. At least some of your orders are maternity and some are for baby!
  • I have a love/hate relationship with Zulily.  Some of their prices are great, but some aren't really a deal at all.  I try to check other places before I order.  I dislike the shipping prices and the time it actually takes to ship!  The few times I ordered maternity clothes they didn't fit and were kind of weird, but I couldn't return them so I won't be ordering myself clothes on there anymore.

Most days I put stuff in my cart I want, but wait long enough until it disappears when the sale ends.  It's like window shopping.
    ;)

  • I'm hit or miss with Zulily.  The shipping always takes forever, and the prices aren't always worth it.  I thought I was getting a great deal on a Kelty hiking backpack until they tacked on $20 for shipping, which put it on par with the regular Amazon price (free shipping and much faster delivery).  But sometimes if there are 8 or 9 things on there I love, it's worth it to make an order.  I've gotten some fantastic deals on good bras there.
