Pregnancy support belt suggestions?

Talked to OB about my pain this morning.  She stopped short of diagnosing it as SPD (for now anyway) but wants me to try wearing supportive shoes all the time (boo- I hate shoes!) and get a pregnancy support belt.  I'd like to get this today b/c I'm travelling later this week and will be on my feet a lot so I'm curious to see if the belt makes a difference.  Should I just go to Motherhood or BRU or where?  Are there different types?  I'm clueless...

I got mine from Egan Medical Supply. I just got the belt, no the contraption with suspenders, etc.  I haven't received it yet, but it's what my midwife recommended. She said getting is from a medical supplier is much cheaper than ordering from a retailer which my research definitely confirmed.

Oh noooo its awesome for tummy and back support. It even has a heat/ ice pack with a compartment to use the heat/ ice pack in :) check it out... It's amazing.
  • My SIL gave me this one for running, but I would imagine it would work well for full-time use as well. https://www.amazon.com/Gabrialla-Elastic-Maternity-Support-Medium/dp/B000WFTHN4

There's ones for support during pregnancy, & ones to help you tuck it all in & support your abdomen muscles until they tighten up again.  Some women swear those help you lose the baby weight faster.  I got a belt from some medical place for my first bought with SPD, but they can be tricky to get just right.  When I sat, it was too tight.  When I stood up, it would be too loose & I'd have to tighten it up.  The pressure also increased the frequency of bathroom trips...

I think I paid $35 to $45 for mine, and I def. never used it enough to justify that!

BUT, if you find a good one that helps with the pain...I think the one ras26 posted looks semi-promising.  This time around I bought some belly bands...I'm hoping they do double duty of holding up my pants, AND giving me some support without being too tight or too loose every time I change position.  GL finding a comfy one that works well!  (Sorry about the SPD, it sucks, doesn't it.)
  • Motherhood was a bust. The only ones they had were great standing up but not comfy when I sat. Plus they looked awful under my clothes and made a crackly noise when I moved. Not going to cut it in the office!

Is your pain more over your sacrum and pelvis or front in the crotch at your pubic symphysis?? One of the doctors I work with recommended (based on her personal experience while pg) the Mother To Be Maternity Support Belt. I got it and wear it once a week right now, but will definitely be wearing it more to help support my ever growing belly!!
If it's more for SPD, you could try an SI belt. The physical therapist I was seeing recommended the Serola Sacroiliac belt. It's much more comfortable than the tan Maternity SI Loc belt that I got from my sister!
You can get both on Amazon.
Neither helps 100%, but I don't think anything other than giving birth will do that!! :)

  • Check out the belly sport bra by Bao Bei Maternity.  It is one you will actually enjoy wearing daily as the material is super comfy.  It is designed by a Physical therapist/Pilates Instructor.
