Update! AW: Sharp stabbing pain in lower abdomen?

I apologize for AWing it up the past few days, but I just need to hear it from people who know understand PgAL.

My original thought was gas, but passing gas only made the pain worse. I texted my mom, who is in the medical field and she insists its gas. But I put a call into the doctor anyways and am waiting for a call back. I'm staying home until she calls because my job requires a lot of walking and I don't want to make it worse. Am I over reacting by calling the doctor? The pain was intense enough that I was hurled over almost crying. But then as soon as I unfolded myself and laid down it got better. Standing up and sitting upright makes it hurt again. No blood.

Ugh! I hate PgAL brain and just wish that I didn't freak out with every little twinge. My doctor is going to think I'm a nutcase

Any thoughts on this pain? Is it normal? I'm 17 weeks tomorrow for those on mobile.

Update: So, it wasn't gas! Baby was sitting on/ squishing my ovary. Doctor said that I did the right thing by calling and she was happy that I came in to check everything out. I'm soo relieved that everything is ok!

Also... Baby still has no penis! Doctor is almost certain it's a GIRL!! But, we're not telling anybody or buying anything until our anatomy scan in 2 weeks.

No advice, but I hope you feel better soon. I don't think your doctor is going to think you're a nutcase. You're in pain and concerned. It's your doctor's job to help. I hope he/she gets back to you soon and is able to give you some answers and relief.

I'm not sure what it is. Hopefully nothing but gas. However, if you are doubled over in pain, I think you made the right move calling your doctor. Hopefully they can get you in for a quick scan. ((Hugs))

Thank you for the reassurance that calling my doctor was the right move. She just called back and is having me come in right away. I am really going to feel like an idiot if its gas (a relieved idiot tho), but MH said "I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time" and then I started crying because he made me feel better and is coming home from work to be with me. Just praying that LO is okay in there!

I had a friend who is in her third pregnancy. She ended up in the ER around 16 or 17 weeks with severe lower abdominal pain. They did US, finding baby looked just fine (as did her appendix and gallbladder). She was in the same boat, Tylenol didn't help, warm baths didn't help, and she couldn't stand up without excruciating pain. The ER called it RLP, and sent her on her way. She followed up with her OB the next day, US showed baby looking great and her OB agreed that it was just RLP and where baby was sitting. My friend said she had never felt such severe pain in any of her other pregnancies and honestly thought the pain in those couple days were worse than labor. She did some bedrest with Tylenol and low heat heating pads for a few days, and hasn't had the issue since. Hoping this is just the case for you. Or gas (those gas pains are painful!). Hoping everything goes well for you, dear!

It's so strange that you posted this because I just did my Doppler again this morning bc I have a really sharp pain in my lower abdomen!! Like really sharp and really low? I realized that baby is sitting really low this morning, like still almost under my pelvic bone. So I am starting to think its because he/she is really low and probably swimming around and pushing on the lowest part of my ute? It's just a guess because it doesn't feel like gas at all!! Good luck at the drs and I hope it's nothing!!

I hope it is nothing serious and I think calling your OB was absolutely the best move. You are not a nutcase! As others have said it could be gas or RLP, but you should never take pain lightly. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Update in OP. Thank you everyone for you reassurance and support. DH and I had a talk on the way home about not worrying what people think and just doing what my body is telling me to do. Doctor agreed. Thank you again!

Doctor had me take it easy for the day and just find comfortable positions. Tylenol is an option too. She also poked baby a little to get her to move, but she seems to like that position because the pain keeps coming and going but has been nowhere near as bad as yesterday morning.

I am having the same thing, a horrible lower abdomen pain. I also thought it was gas. As long as I am sitting everything is fine, but as soon I try to stand or walk, the pain is horrible. To the point I can barely walk. I am 33wk 3days, I havent called my doctor yet because I also dont want her to think I am crazy. After reading this I think it may be the same thing, but still not sure if I should call my doctor or not..

Any advice?
