Increasing supply after being sick

I had a serious stomac virus this weekend and couldn't eat or drink for 24 hours. My supply feels extra low, DD fussing at breast, minimal amount when pumping, empty feeling when usually more engorged after that length of time, etc. I'm still on bland food as my appetite isn't fully back and trying to drink water but what else should I do to get my supply back?

Re: Increasing supply after being sick

  • I fed and then pumped after each feed for 30 minutes (and fed DS the pumped milk). It took about one to two weeks to see the difference, but it did help.

  • I was sick around Christmas and was able to bounce back as well.  I ended up using quite a bit of freezer stash to keep DS happy, but i also nursed/pumped as often as possible and drank lots of Gatorade to stay hydrated and get some extra calories. I also took More Milk Plus supplements. Good luck, hope you feel better soon.
