High Risk Dr in the OKC Metro area

Hey, y'all! Does anyone know of a good high risk OB/GYN in the Okc metro area? I have type 1 diabetes and lost my first pregnancy at 8 months because I didn't go to a high risk doc, so this a big priority for me! Thanks for the help!

Re: High Risk Dr in the OKC Metro area

  • I don't think OKC has any that are technically labeled as high risk but mine consulted with a maternal fetal specialist because I was a high risk patient. I also lost our first baby, I was seeing a different doctor at the time, and I had blood clotting problems. Her name is Dr. Victoria Mills and I believe she only delivers at Integris now. If it weren't for her we wouldn't have our amazing son! Her website is https://www.oklahomagynecology.com. My specialist was Dr. Smith at mercy so you might look her up if you want to deliver there. All of the doctors in that office are amazing. Here is that website https://www.perinatalok.com. I am a registered nurse and have had other nurses recommend both Dr. Mills and all of the docs at the perinatal center in mercy, I would definitely use them all again if we have another baby. I hope this helps you out some.

  • My specialist was also dr. Smith at mercy. She added a lot of peace to my pregnancy. Now I have a perfect little 8 wk girl that I give a lot of credit to her for! :)

  • I'm pretty sure Dr. Goff is high risk.
  • Dr. Goff is great and may not technically be high risk, but does do a lot of consulting with Dr. Smith and Dr. Stanley out of the Perinatal Center. He sends all of his patients to see them at 18 weeks no matter their history to make sure everything looks good and if there are any concerns then you are already under the care of a MFM. This was comforting to me after I experienced the loss of my first child, and now I'm going to be 27 weeks on Tuesday with everything looking good =)

  • I saw Dr. Stanley at the perinatal center as well. I have had 2 late term losses and am of "advanced maternal age." He was wonderful, I highly recommend the entire clinic.
  • Dr. Mirable at the perinatal center was wonderful!
  • OU has an entire High Risk clinic with great doctors on call 24/7 (and when u have the baby, baby never leaves your room!)
  • Dr. Mirable at mercy on memorial. WONDERFUL doc.

I am currently seeing Dr. Stanley and I have to concur. He is great. Very knowledgeable and thorough. He even did his own ultrasound at my first appointment with him and I thought that was awesome.

  • I like dr Stanley but I couldn't stand the bedside manner of dr mirabile. He basically told me I should terminate my 22 week pregnancy because my son had a high risk of passing before birth. He told us there was no reason to see a heart doctor for his heart defects and that I had no reason to come back to see him or anything. To go home and wait for my son to die.

Dr Stanley on the other hand gave us some hope and was willing to say "hey if you want to fight for this baby then I will fight with you." And got us a consultation with a cardio doctor and told us if we wanted to try every thing we should transfer to OU or if we only wanted to try basic life saving things we could stay at mercy.

My son had Trisomy 18 so he did have a lot stacked against him, but the way mirabile just wrote us off as a lost cause just turned me off to him...
  • That's terrible! I am seeing dr Stanley every 2 weeks for my twins. I hope I don't get seen by that other guy. Taking away someone's hope like that as a professional makes me cringe. I am sorry you had to even listen to that.
  • Dr. Smith at Mercy is who I am seeing and Dr. Shanbour.
