Ladies...what are you using for acne?

Hello. I am 11 weeks along today and I have myself a bit of hormonal acne! I feel like a teenager again! What pregnancy safe products are you using that seem to work to treat your acne? My dermatologist said products with benzoyl peroxide are preferable but I was hoping you all migjht have specific products. Please help! (:

  • I second the tea tree oil. Trader Joe's has a line of skin care that is pregnancy friendly.
  • I have used The Body Shop's tea tree oil cleanser line for over a year and it's been great. I've never had great skin (very blemish prone) and pregnancy made it worse! The tea tree oil cleansers and stuff have been great, but are a bit drying in the winter months, so I do have to hydrate more. I do find with the additional pregnancy hormones I need to use a face mask more often (like at least once a week) to deep clean and get rid of the extra skin oils.

I use the tea tree mask (it's specifically for blemish prone skin) and sometimes their seaweed mask (it smells amazing!).

  • I swear by dermalogica! Little pricy but so worth it! Results happen so fast!!! Good luck! Acne is the worst!!!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

  • I am also using The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil products and love them. Better than anything else I've tried, and I've tried it all! I use the facial cleanser, lotion and mask.

  • Tea tree oil to clean your skin after makeup removal, polysporin at night, the antibiotic won't allow them to spread and I find it keeps them very moisturized. CeraVe cream during the day. It has no oil in it and high glycerine content (the expensive stuff in good creams -it attracts moisture). You just can't let them dry out if you want them to heal fast.
  • Using triple antibiotic ointment as a moisturizer does wonders for acne.  I tried it several years ago on a whim and never went back.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
  • My dermatologist prescribed me Erythromycin topical.  I use it VERY sparingly because I don't really trust anything.  I was told that topical such as benzoyl peroxide and other medications in treatments OTC are not safe.
  • I AM going to try the tea tree oil products everyone is talking about though....that is SO much more along the lines of what i want to use.  Thanks ladies!
  • I used Proactive (only every other day) during my last pregnancy. So far no need for it this time.

  • Neosporin works wonders. A little dab before bed, cleared up come morning.

  • I've been using the Tea Tree Oil line from Body Shop for years now. I got my husband hooked too. In the winter, I use a Cerave moisturizing cleanser in the morning with a Clarisonic so not to dry out my skin too much.

We use the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash and the Blackhead Exfoliating Wash (it appears to have been discontinued but we find it on Amazon and Ebay.

It has really made a huge difference in our skin.
  • I use Eminence Organics Clear Skin Line. It uses all organic ingredients and lactic acid (from yogurt) to fight the acne.

  • Image skin care is really nice. It's pharmaceutical grade and can only be bought where a dermatologist or esthetician works.
  • Thank you everyone for the great advice...very helpful! I looked up the tea tree oil products on The Body Shop website and they are 25% off with free shipping over $50--score! Hopefully I can get this under control!
