Get Well Care Package

A friend of the family is having surgery on Friday for a cancerous lump (for lack of a better word) they found on her thyroid.  She reiterated to me that it's not serious and the cure rate is 100%, but I wanted to ship her a care package, nonetheless.  Since my mom died, she's been so wonderful to me, DH, and Henry, and I'd like to put together something thoughtful for her.  Thing is, I'm a little tight on cash...so...can you guys help me think of some good ideas that aren't going to cost an arm and a leg?

I can send the package overnight through my work, so I was thinking of baking some cookies and buying a coffee mug with some hot cocoa.  Maybe buying a small book of crossword puzzles or something she can read or do in bed.  She's in her early 50s, so I'm not sure if there are any good books you guys could recommend?

Just trying to get some good ideas!  Got any?  :-D

Re: Get Well Care Package

  • That is so sweet of you. I hope your friends surgery is successful and that her recovery goes quickly. when i send care packages i also make cookies, and send some cute fuzzy socks to wear while in the hospital, i usually get the socks from WalMart or target for a few dollars also i send crossword puzzles with extra pens, a small bottle of lotion and some chapstick.

  • sending thoughts and prayers for a smooth recovery. i think you've got some great ideas with the cookies and puzzle books. i love fill in puzzles, basically crossword puzzles where they give you the answer and you have to find where it goes, so maybe some of them.

its super sweet of you to send her something.
