I keep getting a sharp pain in my right butt cheek and sometimes it is shooting down my leg and my leg feels like it is going to give out.

Anyone else have this?

Yep.  Only it's my left leg.  It sucks.  I had it through third trimester my last pregnancy but it started earlier this time around. Woohoo.
This here too... Started about 3 days ago.. FTW

  • I noticed discomfort in my left butt cheek 2 nights ago and this morning my left leg feels a bit numb. I'm on week 18 and haven't put on much weight. This is my first baby and I've read this is some what common...

Same here but in both legs (thankfully not at the same time).  I am bummed that it's starting this early for me this pregnancy - I am going to be waddling way sooner than I want to!

  • Sounds like your sciatic nerve. It can hurt like a bitch. I get accupunture for it. Helps immensely.
  • I have left butt cheek pain but also have back problems already that involved my sciatic nerve...the pain is terrible...
  • I had that for about a month during my first pregnancy, and already started getting it now.  The stretches and heating pads help a bit, but the only thing that really helps me is getting adjusted by my friend who is a chiropractor.  The pain goes away almost immediately.  Amazing!  Just be sure to find a chiropractor who specializes in treating pregnant women.

  • I've been getting it too. I asked at my last appt and my nurse said the best things is actually to be active (easier said than done with shooting pains, I know). There are lots of stretches you can do if you google sciatica stretches, they hurt at first but really help. And I have one of those foam roller things you can use for sore muscles so if I sit on that on the floor and massage my upper leg with that it also feels better. Man, I didn't anticipate sciatica happening so early on.

I don't know if I will be able to get up off the floor....haha
  • Yep, right side for me. Took time to ease it off. One weekend it was so bad that I finally took two days of Tylenol and got a hot water bottle for my lower back. Lots of rest off my feet helped me in two days. I am taking it easy and doing light stretches.
  • I had it on the right side during my first pregnancy. This time it's on both sides, which makes for a really entertaining walking experience. Guess which leg is gonna buckle this time?! :) I find it's most helpful to crack my lower back when it needs it (if I sit up really straight, extend both legs in front and squeeze them together, that usually does it - thanks, relaxin hormone!), and try to stretch it out in the shower.
  • I get it n m left side. It was so bad yesterday I was almost in tears. The worst part is not know from kind Strabo the next if it's gonna hurt or not...ugh
