Uppababy gluxe

I have a 10 month old boy, and up until now I've been primarily using my UB vista.

I bought a g-luxe and have used it a handful of times and it seems like B hates it! He always screams after being in it a few minutes. Should I just keep trying or get something else?

I found the city mini for 200 near me. Is that small enough to be an umbrella like stroller or is it too much the same as my vista.

Does anyone else have this problem with the gluxe? Could it be he's just not used to it? I just have having him out in it and then he flips out and I'm trying to carry him and push the stroller.

Re: Uppababy gluxe

  • It may just be the age. DD was not a fan of being contained once she learned to walk and crawl. I would wait it out now that the novelty of her new skill has worn off she is a little more willing to ride in the stroller again.

  • I have the G-luxe and love it. Have you used the recline on it at all? It's a tough one. We've used ours everywhere over the past two years and it travels great. I would keep trying. The G-luxe reclines pretty well & I'm not sure you'd really benefit from the City Mini a lot when you have a Vista.

He rides just fine in the vista though. I've taken him for 2 hr long walks in it without so much as a complaint so I don't think it's the containment issue.

I'm going to keep trying the gluxe on quick trips so he can maybe get used to it. If not, I'll have to try a new umbrella.

  • Does he face you in the Vista?  We have the vista and the g-luxe and DD never showed disdain for the gluxe.  I would adjust the recline and foot are and see if that makes a difference.   We have a couple b-agiles and I like them better than the g-luxe,but they fold flat and are heavier.  but lighter than the vista.  great strollers for the price.  Much smoother ride than the gluxe.  Pros and cons for both.

This was going to be my next question! Also do you have the leg rest up? DD gets grumpy when her legs dangle. DD has always been more content to go for a walk in the stroller then to do errands, because she loves being outside.

I think that more use may help him get used to his new stroller and the different feeling of the ride.

  • we have the same two strollers. I know people rave about the UBV but I hated using it besides for walks around the neighborhood. It's big and bulky and just not easy to run quick errands with.

We bought the gluxe and we haven't had the issues with DD hating it. I know she has gone through phases right after she started crawling and walking or not enjoying being strapped in anything. That is our goto stroller. The UBV is collecting dust right now in our garage.

  • I'm with hollyg. We bought the vista but rarely use it as it is too bulky for being out and about in the car. We've been using our car seat with the chicco key fit caddy which DD is outgrowing. We went stroller shopping this weekend and she really likes the city mini. She seemed scared in the Gluxe. She might be too young (she is a 7 month preemie), but it just didn't seem substantial enough to hold her. I can completely see the need for the city mini if you have an UBV. It is so much easier to fold and tote around, IMO.
