((((Thankful Tuesday))))

edited January 2014 in September 2013 Moms

Thankful Tuesday with a little twist. Of course share what you're thankful for this week.

But also a little GTKY:   What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?

  • Today I am really grateful that we started using the "make your own K-cup". We get to use a better bean (not as much acid) but we're also saving like $15-$20 a week in our coffee costs. It's the small things.

The nicest thing anyone has ever done for me: When I was in college I was getting my puppy spayed and a not-so-good friend of mine took time out of his day to travel half way across town to help me get her after the surgery was done. He opened all the doors for me so I could hold her, he followed me to my apartment and carried the pup (15 lbs. or so) up the stairs for me. I didn't ask him to do any of this and it was in the middle of the day so I am sure he had other things to do but it was so nice.

Also my DH always does the nicest things when I go in for minor surgeries. He just takes care of everything. My last hernia surgery he handled my whole life. I was just able to take my meds and pass out (heal).

  • Today I am thankful that I have such a great job which provides so much for my family.  from great benefits, great pay, and somewhat flexible hours I am truly grateful.

I had to think hard about this one but one of the nicest things someone has ever done for me was I was in the middle of moving to my new house which I had bought all by myself.  It was a new chapter in my life....a woman on her own!  I had to work and couldn't get a lot of time off so my boyfriend (now DH :) ) said he would help me move my stuff in his truck while I was at work.  When I got home I was so tired but I knew I had a crap ton of stuff to put away....I walked in the door and he had put it all away!  He unpacked my entire kitchen and put everything away and organized it.  He had all the furniture in and bed set up.  I was floored.  It was so nice to just come home and not unpack boxes.  I will never forget that.

  • I am thankful for DD's healthy check-up today, she has been on the smaller side but she is growing nicely now. The nicest thing anyone has ever done for me was a month or so ago. Our car was acting up so I took it along with the 2 kids to the car place for repair. A ton of stuff ended up being wrong with it and the repairs were supposed to take like 6 hours - we'd already been there an hour and a half. The manager took our car off the lift, drove us home then took my car back to the repair place. When it was done they drove it back to our house (it is our only car). I was floored by their kindness and didn't have to spend hours with two LOs at a repair shop.

  • I am thankful for parents who let me fail then helped me learn lessons from my mistakes. So many of my students' parents jump in and rescue the kid before he/she has a chance to mess up and learn from it.

  • Right now I am thankful that both girls are napping so I can get some work done... Which is why I'm on TB, lol.

The nicest thing someone has done for me is that last Monday we had to put our dog down. I made a little picture collage of her and had put it on FB because so many people in my life have known our dog. Anyway, I went over to my best friends house a few days later and she gave me a canvas with that collage printed on it, just out of the blue. It was really sweet and we both had a good cry.

  • I'm thankful today has been a better day emotionally than yesterday. I also second @ajboocher with the parents. My parents were probably a little more on the protective side when I was in elementary school seeing as my mom worked at my elementary school but I can also remember many times when I would tell them about some problem and they would give me advice but wouldn't force me to follow it or run right in and rescue me.

The nicest thing anyone has done for me would probably right after LO was born my mom came over to watch our puppies for the night. When we got home the next night she had gone to the grocery store and stocked us up on all kinds of household things like laundry detergent and dish soap and TP and paper towels but she also cleaned our house top to bottom and washed all our clothes and bed sheets and stuff.
