I like those posts, by the time we have our 9 month most babies are done. I like to see what's going on with everyone and what to expect from the appointment. Edit to fix
Our pedi plans to do a finger poke and the 3rd Hep B shot at the 9 month. Finger poke is to check her iron level. Some insurances do require a full blood draw to check their lead level. At our 6 month, our insurance didn't require it, but now that I'll have a new job, we will have to see.
I think it might be for lead and other stuff..but not totally sure. I suck at asking questions at the time of the appt.
My IRL friend told me about the 9 month draw (we go to the same pedi).... I'm not sure if it's a prick or a tube, but my friend seemed pretty traumatized. E had a spinal tap at 2 months, so if i can handle that I'm sure a blood draw will be fine.
Just FYI about finger pricks. My LO was sick about a month ago and her pedi wanted to check her white blood cell count. They did a quick finger poke and squeezed a bit, then it was over. I'm a huge baby about needles, but this was NBD. Didn't even require a bandaid. She cried, obviously, but got over it really fast.
Re: 9 Month appt?
I've just gotten used to monthly appointments... It's weird skipping a month!
