Someone mentioned their book club in the "me time" post, and it got me wondering. Did we ever pick a new book to read after Orphan Train? I would love to join the discussion this time! If we haven't picked one yet, I would like to suggest "The Birth House" by Ami McKay. I read it while we were pregnant and found it really interesting. It's about girl who becomes the town midwife at the time that hospital births are becoming popular. I don't know if it's historically accurate, but it was cool to see how the attitudes about where to give birth have changed over time.

I have a list I saw on pintrest of the top 16 books to read before they come out on movie this year. I'm on a waitlist at the library for most of them.

There was one started around the beginning of December, I believe. @jthree organized it, and said it wasn't that big. Maybe because people were busy over Christmas? That was my excuse, at least.

Okay, so I count 5 of us so far, and 2 book suggestions. Either book is good with me, so which one do you want to start with? Also, do you ladies want to just jump in or shall we wait a couple days to see if anyone else wants to join?

@cmcmillan0901 I dunno. I've never done a book club before. I think they left about a month last time? I'll let everyone else decide because I can easily finish a book in less than a week!

@ecahill, @danuli8, @chgibeau, @rgrundon, @cmcmillan0901, @sapphire021, @melandjames14, @jthree, @rariese....Hello again! Sorry for the late reply! This past week got crazy on me, and it feels like I have dropped off the face of the bump! So we are up to 10 members now. I liked chgibeau's suggestion of taking 3 or 4 weeks to read the book and having a reading goal each week. I picked up The Birth House while I was at the library, and looked through it. It has just over 400 pages, and there is a chapter divide really close to each hundred, so we could do approx. 100 pages/week, and be finished by the end of February! It is also divided into 3 parts, so we could do 1 part/week instead. However the sections are not very evenly divided. Melandjames14, I didn't see Labor Day when I was at the library. Maybe that could be the book for March? That way everyone has time to get it put on hold at the library if needed before we read it. So what is everyone's thoughts?

* @jthree, I believe that a weekly discussion was the original idea. Hopefully, if we pick an easy-to-manage goal, we won't have to worry about people falling behind. Did you run into a lot of people falling behind or were most of them able to keep up? **Everyone: Does 100 pages a week sound like too much? (I'm a fast reader, so I will have to slow down to only read that many.

I don't mind though. Discussing books is fun, and not many of my IRL friends read much.) I'm excited to hear your thoughts!
