Mamas of boys, help!

LO is 9 months. I've started noticing that it seems like his testicles may be undescended. When I feel for them they seem small, or just the fact that they're high. TMI but the sac seems small and shriveled most of the time. What's everyone's thought on this?? TIA!!

  • Only thought is to talk to the doc - we joke about how our little guy had balls the size of a 25 year old when he was born (swollen from hormones and fluids), and they've always been descended.  It is very obvious.  My friend has a little guy who has one undescended and he is 18 months old and the doc just said to wait it out a little bit.

  • Wills are like that most of the time but the doc said he can feel his testicles... I'm pretty sure it's common for them to go up and down or retract and it's not a cause for concern... They will naturally just stay down when puberty sets in. I know Will's doc has felt his before... I think they just don't like to be cold :) However, if they are never down and the doc can't seem to find them, I'm pretty sure that's when they start to discuss surgery around a year.

  • Shriveled seems like he's cold... Small may be, well, perfectly normal... but NOT present would be problematic. Definitely have your doctor double check at your next visit!

  • I think he's either cold, or it's something the doc will certainly notice during a routine exam.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • The doctor should check every time he is examined. I'm sure his doctor would have mentioned something by now. If his doctor doesn't check, find a new one. It's a basic, quick thing that should be done.
