I have so much respect for you all!!  This past week was really tough. Thankfully I work part time for the most part so I'm home more. You all get major props!!! What helps you? I have my mom send pictures of Hannah when she's watching her.

Weird thing I noticed, when I worked the weekend, knowing she is with her daddy I didn't miss her as much. Anybody else experience that? Also I miss her more when she's at my MIL's.

Re: Working Moms

  • The kid home with daddy? And me not there? I don't understand. That never happens around here. If I work and mh doesn't, he still takes her to DC. He says the routine is good for her.
Time is really all that makes it better. Hugs. It really sucks.

  • I completely agree with Ducky - TIME.

I had a VERY difficult transition going back to work. It wasn't until I was back for a couple of months that I settled into a groove. My only complaint now is just not having enough free time. I hate when I get home from work - we eat, put LO to bed and then by the time I get the house picked up from the day-night it's bedtime. THat's my biggest complaint.

LO is really only home with daddy if I am traveling for work which only has happened once so far - but I totally know what you mean because I did not bat an eye when I went on that trip. Truthfully it was a great break and I wish it would happen again.

HUGS to you - I know I speak for many of us when we say we know how difficult it is.

  • I agree with time. It takes a while to find your groove and be comfortable with the routine. Prepping as much as possible the night before or over the weekend really helps, too. Its hard but you'll get there!!

And I totally agree and feel better when DS is home with DH. Plus I get pictures all day :)

  • I'm only two weeks in - so I haven't had much time yet - but really hoping as I develop a routine it will get easier - it's tough to be away from my DS.  There's a few things that have helped so far - I asked my work to go part-time but they weren't okay with that :(  After a lot of convincing and talking to my CFO I was able to get them to agree to earlier hours (which is a big deal since I'm a manager).  The earlier hours allow me to have more time with DS in the afternoons and evenings and it also allows me to pick him up at daycare rather than drop him off - I really struggled with this one.  Being a working mom is really hard :(

    Me 38 MH 41 - TTC since June 2010 - dx with Severe MFI. Straight to IVF with ICSI. IVF #1 - ER 06/13/12 - 9 Eggs Retrieved - 4 ICSI'd - only 2 fert. 06/15/12 - 2DT - 3 cell & 6 cell with fragmentation. Beta 06/29/12 - IVF #1 = BFN. 07/20/12 - WTF Appt -Told by our RE to quit IVF. Second Opinion from RE is good. IVF#2 - November 2012. Estradiol Pills Started 11/6. Stims start 11/16. ER 11/26 - 7 eggs retrieved - all mature. 4 fertilized with ICSI. ET 11/29 Transferred 3 embryos. Beta is 12/10. 1st Beta 81 2nd Beta 160 and 3rd beta 360!!! First U/S 12/21/12 - We saw one beautiful gest. sac. 2nd U/S is 01/04/2013 - H/B 183 02/05/13 - NT Scan - everything looks good and IT'S A BOY!  Aiden was born 08/20/2013.

IVF #2 is in progress.  ER was 05/12/14 - 11 eggs retrieved, 8 fertilized with ICSI.  ET was 05/15/14 - we transferred 3 embryos as we did on the cycle my son was conceived.  We were able to freeze 3 embryos. Beta is scheduled for 05/26/14.  1st beta - 111.  2nd beta - 159 didn't double :( 3rd beta Friday 5/30) - not a lot of hope left. Beta # 3 is 247 - probably ectopic.  Beta # 4 is 813 - possibly vanishing multiple sydrome?  06/05/14 - 5w4days - first U/S - we see a gestational sac and yolk - still have hope!  06/17/14 - 7w1day - U/S and saw and heard the heartbeat - Finally!  06/27/14 - 8w4days - Baby and heartbeat look and sound great :)  EDD 02/01/14 and It's a boy!

My DH is home w kids during the day, so that makes it much easier for me. No pick ups or drop offs and packing lunches.

I dont know what it's going to be like going back this Thursday after being on leave w baby #2. Pumping helped me stay connected when I went back after our first baby. I really like my job and my coworkers so that's a plus. And it's really amazingly quiet at my office which is nice too.

  • I'll echo the time comments. It has gotten easier for me as DD has gotten older. She is 27 months now and really thriving in "school" aka daycare. She is settled in, loves the activities, naps decently, and so all of that makes it a ton better.

  • I am still on leave and I'm terrified to go back to work. DD will be with my mom also so she'll be in good hands but I miss her badddddd when I step out to the super market, imagine a 9 hour day, ahhhh. I'm seriously trying to work a miracle to not go back to work. I secretly play the lotto once a week lol.

I agree tho, when DH is watching her i actually feel relieved. Like I can sleep peacefully. Although my mom is awesome with her, DH gives me some sort of peace of mind.

Oohh I hope this gets easier. Why do us women have to deal with all the hard stuff. Uhhhh
TTC Since 112010 Naturally. Diagnose:PCOS(ME) + Low Motility(HIM). Started IVF+ICSI Cycle 12312. ER 27 & ET 210 two embies transferred. *BFN 1ST IVF CYCLE.* **Getting as healthy as possible and will try IVFICSI#2 again hopefully in April.** -- HAVE FAITH; LET GO & LET GOD --
  • Is it weird that when you asked "what helps you?" I assumed you were asking for tips on how to manage working and thus having less time at home to get things done?

I have pictures of my kids at work but honestly, it's not really something I need help with.  Do I miss their cute faces?  Sure, but I'm not the kind of mom who needs and or wants to be with her kids all the time.  I think having a job I really enjoy helps a lot with that.

I do think that it's easier for me just because my older two are in school and the little ones are either being watched by my husband or my younger sister.  Perhaps if they were daycare I would have a little harder time.

As for just basic adjustment, I agree with everyone else that time is a great thing.  Time and a routine.  Of course, everytime your child reaches a new stage the routine might change but you can always find a new one and that always helps.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

    This Cluttered Life

  • I think it helps that I leave him with my mom so there was really no anxiety for me. I knew he was safe and happy. We are going to put him in preschool next fall for 2 half days a week and I am sure I will have major breakdowns then. After 18 months and the temper tantrums starting I kind of enjoy getting a majority of my work done before he gets home because he will not let me work when he is there.
