What were the restrictions for going up/down stairs after a c-section? All of our bedrooms are upstairs and the living/kitchen is downstairs. We have an elevator but it's a pain to use so curious if you had restrictions how long did you follow them?
I was told two weeks, and I adhered to it for the most part. I found that when I moved around too much, I bled more. I just listened to my body and didn't push it. You can still develop a hemmorage at home post partum, so I chose to really baby myself and I had a fantastic recovery.
When I was being discharged my OB said "stairs in your house are fine, but don't go scaling apartment buildings or anything crazy like that." I think limiting how often you go up/down them might help if you're still feeling sore, but otherwise just take it easy.
The first time the doctors told me to minimize the use of stairs for the first two weeks. This time ( a different practice) my doctor told me to listen to my body.
I was told to limit it and definitely not to carry baby up and down in the beginning. I basically tried to stay on the main level all day and only go upstairs at bedtime. We have a PNP with a changing station in the living room so I just made sure I had plenty of extra baby clothes/diapers/wipes/etc and even extra clothes for me on the main level so that I could just stay put. I also agree to really baby yourself and it will make your recovery so much easier.
I had no restriction. My doc said to use common sense. If it becomes too much then limit them. I definitely multi tasked so I didn't have to do them 15 times a day but I did di them a couple times a day with no problem.

This cracks me up because at the time we had K we were living in a 4th FLOOR WALKUP apartment and you can bet your a$$ that nobody carried me up and down all the stairs. Including when we came back from the hospital etc. and somehow I survived. You will be fine. Just take it slow.
I didn't have any restrictions like that and have stairs leading up to my house. Listen to your body and as a pp said you might not want to carry the baby up and down, at least at first.
Stairs were no big deal for me. I was up and down them several times a day upon returning home. honestly, I didn't take it all that easy and I think it's why I had such a fast recovery.
My doctor didn't say anything about stairs. We lived upstairs (no elevator). I just listened to my body and took it easy. I didn't really go up or down them the first few weeks.
I live in a third floor walk up. I asked my doctor about stair and she said it was fine. No restriction. After my csection, I would go on 1-2 walks a day.

we had to go up stairs to get into the duplex we lived in, but once inside it was single story. Doctor just said to take it easy and listen to my body. I took one step at a time and held the railing.
My doctor limited me to minimal use of the stairs and no carrying the baby up and down. Like JandACoffee I just set up an downstairs area with everything I needed for the day. DH brought the baby down and I made do till he got home from work. It worked for us! I don't remember it being for long, just a week or two.
