The morning of Monday January 13th, I posted on my Facebook status the following:
"Dear Baby Girl... Your eviction notice was served last week (39 weeks) and yet you're still inside. This is your last chance to make an exit on your own!"
Well she listened!
Tuesday morning at 6:15 am, I woke up and had a horrible time getting out of bed, it felt as though my pubic bone was going to split in half down the middle. My mom helped me out of bed and I waddled my way to the bathroom, as I did every morning. When I wiped, I noticed blood. Then I felt something drop out of me and when I looked in the toilet, there was my plug! I toyed with the idea of SnapChatting a picture, just for giggles! I'm sure
@chuggingwater @wilburbud &
@KaitiMac would have really appreciated that first thing in the morning. I decided against it and went with making a call into L&D instead!
When I spoke to the nurse in L&D, she pulled my file out and reviewed it quickly. She said to come in and get checked out, and then we would go from there!
I had very irregular contractions and they weren't causing any pain. So I got off the phone, and told my Mom & Aunt, "Today I'm having the baby".
I called my best friend to let her know I was going in to get checked, but don't worry about coming to the hospital yet (she was going to be in the room with me), because I wasn't 100% sure they were going to admit me. I packed up DS, and grabbed both my bag & DS bag, got everything into the car, and I drove my Aunt, DS and myself to the hospital 30 minutes away!
I had a few contractions during the drive to the hospital, mostly feeling them through my back, but they also weren't painful. I arrived at the hospital at 8:30 AM and right away they strapped me up to the NST to check for contractions & heart rate. The nurse Judy said she reviewed my chart from DS labour & delivery and her main concern was that my second stage of labour with him was 11 minutes and 3 pushes. She then did a cervical check and I was at 4 cm. They admitted me right away and they started to rush getting everything ready! They took my blood, and got me into a delivery room right away to start my antibiotics for GBS. They let me know that if I wasn't able to receive my second dose, I would have to stay 48 hours, instead of 24. So everyone was watching the clock!
My bestie arrived around 9:30 AM and her, my Aunt and DS were with me chatting away! My mom was leaving work and heading over to the hospital herself!
By this point, I was having regular contractions and were increasing in intensity. I was still able to talk through the contractions, so nobody was overly concerned with me dilating. Nobody wanted to touch me, to see if we could prevent my water breaking before getting that key second dose!
The time from 9:30 to 12:15 pm seemed to be going at a snail's pace.
Finally at 12:15 pm, the nurse came in and I received my antibiotics!! It took about 25 minutes to go through the IV and the OB came in to check my progress. I was at 7 cm, 75% effaced and at a -1 station. They decided to break my water, at 12:50 and they expected it would be about an hour or so to the time I would need to push. Well once my water was broken, that's when the fun began!
Contractions immediately went from a 5 to a 10 on a scale of pain. They had me roll onto my left side and I was sure I was almost ready! They checked again and I was at 8 cm. The right side of my cervix was still a little hard, so I rolled over to the right side. I was just getting to my side when I had an extremely strong urge to push. The nurse paged the OB & nursing station "We have a strong urge to push" I told her it was more than a strong urge, I can't stop my body from bearing down and pushing. I told her the head was coming out! She paged again saying "Delivery NOW", within seconds there was 3 nurses in the room.
They called the time for 2nd stage labour being 1:04 PM.
The head came out and they said to push. with that 1 push, Veronica Grace was born at 1:05 PM. Veronica was skin to skin and the OB came in!
I had no tearing and Veronica was perfect. She weighed 7 lbs 12 oz and 20.5 inches long!!
Once everything was cleaned up, My mom, grandmother & DS joined my Aunt and bestie in the delivery room and I introduced DS to his baby sister. He was a little nervous and unsure at first, but them warmed right up to Veronica! DS was able to spend the rest of the day with me and returned the next morning to visit again before we were released. DS went home just after lunch and I was released shortly after 3 PM. When we pulled into the driveway, DS was looking out the window, jumping and screaming "BABY IS HOME! MOMMY IS HOME!"
I came in first to greet DS and the dog and my mom brought the baby in after. DS just couldn't stop jumping up and down yelling "VAVO HAS THE BABY!!! THE BABY IS HOME!!!"
It melted my heart and I felt so blessed to have these 2 kids!
Now here's the pictures!!
ETA: Forgot to mention that I had absolutely no pain medication!!
