Water broke

Well this morning at 8:30 my water broke, I went to L&D and they though it would be best to transfer me to a hospital with a level 3 NICU. The other hospital was only a level 2. So far everything is looking good, I'm just sad for the fact that this hospital is 11/2 hours away from all my family and friends. The hardest part it being away from my DD it hasn't even been a full day and I miss her like crazy!

  • T&P for you and your family. I know it is so hard being away from your DD, you can do this though! I had to send mine to grandparents 8 hours away for the last couple of weeks while I was on hospital bed rest. I promise it is worth it. ~hugs~

I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

I had pPROM with my most recent baby at 29w6d and was transferred an hour away for the same reasons as you. It was very hard to be away from my older ones, especially since I've never been away from my twins since they came home from their NICU stay. Thankfully some friends jumped in right away to take shifts with them until my parents could get in from out of state and stay with them.

It was really crazy feeling that suddenly I'd lost all control over everything.. from my hopes that my current pregnancy/going full term with a healthy newborn and no worries about him, was quickly changed to dealing with the anxiety of what was to come with the newest one, as well as what was going on at home with my others.

I had to accept that while others weren't going to do everything as I do, and the kids may get their lions' shares of junk food and little to no structured bath times and bed times, that we were all going to survive this.

We are still in survival mode while waiting for #5 to get out of the NICU, but we have sort of found a new normal for us. Just one day at a time.

Prayers that you are able to go as long as possible with your pPROM and try your best to stay relaxed and rested ( as if you can truly get rest in the hospital) and know that you are in the safest place for you and your LO's. This is not how you imagined it, but everyone will be okay, just a different story to share than what they tell you in all of the books. Give yourself permission to grieve from the disappointment of this change and have a big girl cry if you need to.
    Hugs and love.
