Gas at night

My 4 month old seems to struggle with gas every night around 8 to 10. Any ideas why? We try to burp more, gas drops, bicycle legs etc.

Re: Gas at night

  • Gripe water has helped us a lot. But we also had the same issue and the Dr prescribed Zantac for acid reflux. That plus the gripe water has been really effective for us.

  • Same as PP we use Zantac and gas drops. I try to use the gas drops every other feeding starting late afternoon until midnight to prevent gas and it really helps. I use the pedia care brand that's safe for every feeding. My LO loves the cherry flavor, sucks it down!!
  • We have been struggling with the same thing. I have been using gas drops the past couple nights, but he still gets super fussy. So far the only thing that helps is to let him nurse for a couple hours (on and off) until he eventually passes out. My nipples hate him for it, but they are taking one for the team.

  • Our baby was doing that and then last night I didn't have a pop.. I always have a ginger ale/root beer or something and didn't last night. He didn't fuss at all. Both those are caffeine free so it isn't that - but I thought maybe it was the sugar? I'm going to try to not drink one tonight and see if he's good again..
  • If baby is getting gassy between 8-10, give the gas drops much earlier, around 5pm or so...recommended by my mw, gives time to break up the problem bubbles before they start. Worked like a charm for us, hope it does for you guys too!
  • Thank you, I appreciate you sharing that advice.
