Our DS has mild reflux- just the typical 2 month baby reflux. He isn't on any medication and usually it doesn't bother him. He eats directly from the breast usually 4-7 times a day and gets 2-3 bottles depending on my work schedule, etc. Usually his reflux is just him spitting up a little and swallowing it again-occasionally he spits up a teaspoon or less.
For the last week or so he has been spitting up a lot more-- like tablespoons/ounces (and last night almost a whole feeding) when he is BF, and usually doesn't spit up at all when he is bottle fed breast milk. He is usually BF in the morning (side-lying in bed for the first feeding and another in the glider before work), and then from dinner until bedtime, including overnight (basically BF when I am home, bottle during work hours). I stopped nursing side-lying in the morning since I figured being close to flat wasn't good for reflux, but it still doesn't seem to be helping.
I've been burping him a ton and trying to keep him upright for 20 minutes after feeding. Do you ladies have any other ideas to fix this or reasons why it could be happening? I don't want to pump and give him more bottles than I already do, but also hate to see him spitting up/throwing up every time he is BF.
Re: Spit-up/reflux worse with BF- any ideas?
When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.
