My kid must be candy flavored

...because at least once every 2 weeks I get a phone call from the daycare to let me know that another kid bit him. He is in a class with 5 other 18-24 month kids and I'm not sure if it is the same kid over and over but we have so many incident reports of him being bitten by another child, generally because they both want to play with the same toy. We've been fortunate that DS has never been aggressive toward another child and I know that biting/hitting isn't necessarily unusual for young toddlers but I feel like it's a little bit crazy how often this happens!

  • Yeah that is a little crazy, although my sister was a biter and the poor boy my mom watched was the recipient.

  • I know the feeling. DD was bit at that frequency (if not more) at her old daycare. We recently switched her to home care (not for that reason) and she got bit in the first week! I keep saying her chubby cheeks are tasty, maybe I'm right.

  • Sounds like perhaps there needs to be another worker in the room if it is happening that frequently. Years ago I worked in a daycare/preschool and there was a little girl that bit what ever kid was near her the second she could. The school ended up assigning her a 1-on-1 counselor to keep an eye on her the whole time she was in school which helped the problem.
