Hi ladies! My wedding is coming up pretty soon and I'm wondering how big your cake was. I know it depends on the number of guest, I'm having 80-100 people. I saw this really cute cupcake incorporated idea to the wedding cake (has anyone done this?). I met with this lady that makes wedding cakes and only charges 1.00 per slice so it will come out to 100.00 for the cake, not bad considering the venue has a cake for 550.00. It would be awesome of you posted pictures of your cake

thanks in advance ladies!
Re: Talk to me about your wedding cake
I honestly can't remember how many people it served. Maybe 75? It was just under $300 because a lot of work went into shaping the fondant and whatnot. The catering company we hired also had pie for those that don't like fondant. We had a Thanksgiving dinner (we got married in November and DS hadn't had a good Thanksgiving dinner in three years - Basic, AIT, and Afghanistan). We had leftovers and split it up between our parents, siblings, and ourselves. It was an awesome cake, and I'd totally do it again.

This was the cake at my first wedding and I LOVED it. Loved. We had 150 people and ended up taking home the entire top tier (for our anniversary) and bottom tier (untouched). Waaay too much cake.
For my second wedding we had a private family ceremony on Friday (where we had the cake) and then an informal BBQ reception the next day (where we had cupcakes).
The cake was small (75 people) and basic. We used a John Deere cake topper because DH and his grandpa have 30 John Deere tractors between the two of them, some antique for tractor shows, others are farm tractors that they use.
The cupcakes were from my favorite bakery and were ah-mazing.
ETA: We also had a DIY Fruit Pizza station (you can kind of see it in the background of the first cupcake pic) and that was a HUGE hit!
Now I want wedding cake.
Eta: I think all of that was around $400. We just went to the local HyVee bakery. It was really good!
I love everything about hyvee. Their bakery, their deli. Mmm! These wedding cakes are gorgeous, ladies!
This was our cake. It's was fake. This is after it had been poked at all night. The top tier was real, that's what we cut, and then we had sheet cakes. It ended up being cheaper that way. I think we paid around $300?
@Dee2588 isn't it so fun picking out everything?! But also so overwhelming. Who knew there were so many choices for such stupid little things that you never thought of.
We had about 150 guests. We took the top layer home to freeze and we ate it at our one year anniversary. It was really good even after a year!
