Exercising

Is anyone exercising yet? In what capacity? What were you advised to do or not do? I'm 3.5 weeks post partum from a C-section and I'd like to get back into running. I have some 5Ks lined up in the spring. Are you doing cardio? Weights? Walking? If nothing yet, what's your plan?

Re: Exercising

  • I have been working my abs and legs in preparation for going back to Pilates and Barre next week (3w pp).

  • I'm 5 days post c-section and my dr said no to pretty much everything except walking until my 6wk check up.
  • Nothing yet. I will probably start walking 1-2 miles at 3 weeks post partum. And hopefully I will start running again at 6 weeks post partum. I did 3 5Ks this pregnancy, I love running!
  • I was told to wait 6 weeks to do any serious exercise so for now I'm just walking! After the 6 weeks, I'll probably do some light weights and more walking/jogging.

  • Since I got a tubal ligation after having Scarlett, I have to wait until my OK before I can do anything, really. I have a lifting limit (Scarlett) and at the moment, I'm not up for much anyway.

My plan is to do my super-easy pilates video to start, and then do some Jillian Michaels when I'm up to it.

  • I was cleared 8 weeks after a c/s and I tried doing T25 but it was too much too fast so I'm currently sticking to my nerdy Richard Simmons workout videos.

  • I'm 3 weeks out from my c-section and have been walking every day, that's all the doc said I could do. I can't wait until I can return to Crossfit but I'm sure it will be awhile before I'm heavy lifting again.

  • My doctor told me nothing but walking until y six week postpartum appointment. Once I'm cleared for physical activity, I plan to get back into running as running a half marathon in August is my big post baby goal. I also plan on going to mom and baby yoga classes and doing some at home workouts. I may try to do some classes at my gym in the evenings when DH is home and can take care of DD. I don't trust the daycare at our gym. It doesn't seem clean to me.

  • I ran 3 miles yesterday and today. Starting slowly so I don't mess anything up down there. Felt great so I'll keep adding miles throughout the week.

  • No exercising at the moment. I'm planning on doing Insanity at 6-8 weeks pp and taking DD out to the park or track to walk.

  • Before my BFP, I played roller derby! I can't wait to get back on my skates! But in the mean time, I'm going to start walking and doing light lifting to slowly get myself ready to be back on the track!
  • My doctor only suggests walking before 6 weeks. Once cleared, I plan on going back to Curves and Zumba but add yoga and more walking/running.
  • I'm 11 days pp and have been walking the mall with Nolan in the stroller the past few days. I will build myself up to the gym soon!

  • We should def get a running club going on here. My doc said nothing for 6 weeks except light toning (kegels and pelvic tilts). But I plan on getting back into running. Want to run a half marathon this year. Nervous because I wasn't able to keep up with the running during pregnancy. Had severe fatigue during first tri and then when I tried to add it back in my heart rate got to high. So haven't run in 9 months now.

  • My ob said nothing strenuous for 6 weeks post c/s and then I have no restrictions except what my body tells me is too much. I am almost 3 weeks out and am still in some pain so I couldn't imagine trying to exercise too much yet. I have been taking LO for walks around the neighborhood everyday and using light hand weights for now.

Yes!  I could have written this... I was doing some 5k's last year and was up to 6ish miles before getting pregnant.  Morning sickness knocked me on my ass and then my Dr said no heart rate above 140ish, so there went any form of running/jogging.  I'm thinking a summer mini would be great motivation to get back into the routine and it'd be great to have some accountability on here!

I'm gonna wait and see how quickly I can get back up to 5 k before I sign up for anything.

I ran consistently until about 26 weeks and then had to stop. It's winter here and really cold, but yesterday was sunny and fairly warm and I was itching to go running! I'm only 12 days pp but feel like it's going to be forever until 6 weeks when I can officially start running again. I'll probably start going some 30 day shred here in the next few weeks just to do something, and I'll modify as needed. I've been feeling pretty much back to normal since a week pp, but don't want to over do it.

ETA: I had another csection and last time I started running around 5 weeks pp.

  • I used to be an avid runner but stopped when I got pregnant (bc I was high risk). It's too cold to go running here and my favorite time to run is in the mornings. However, being so sleep deprived, I can barely lift my head up and I'm usually sleepy the entire morning. I really hope we get a few warm days so I could at least go for a walk with DS.
  • In currently doing the t25 5 days a week. I started last week after my 6 week pp checkup. It's intense and I have a hard time making it through it by feel great after and I know if I stick with it ill be in even better shake than before baby! But I go back to work in 2 weeks so that will make it hard :(

I so want to do this but don't want to spend $100 on the "program"/DVDs...did you actually buy it?

  • Yea I actually bought it. I split up the payments into 3 and it's totally worth it. I sweat my ass off after 25 mins and am sore the next day for them so you know it's working! Just finished the ad workout and I'm still sweating! It's great for moms with newborns. I feed my LO and once he is down for a nap I take the 25 mins to work out. Today I even had LO watching me and he fell asleep while I was working out! Totally worth the money!!

I love that it's 25 min...that's why I liked 30 day shred, but I got so annoyed with Jillian, lol! Maybe I'll do the payment plan on it too, I guess if I spend the money then it'll make me actually do it. I still have some time before I can actually go it anyway.

  • My doc said no exercise except walking until after my 6 week appt (coming up next week!).  I have been walking about a mile or so a few times a week, but am looking forward to being able to exercise videos and light jogging after my OB clears me.  I've never been a huge exerciser, but would like to get better about it.

  • I worked out taking classes up to 31 weeks, but nothing past that due to HBP.

I cleaned up the treadmill area so I can start walking on it for a mile every day. I'm itching to start running again, but I'm scared I'll fuck my supply up.

Also? I cannot imagine my nibbles chafing in a sports bra. Omg.

Oh we have to lose the pregnancy weight???? That's weird I wanted to keep it :(. Lol JK. In plan on going back to gym at 6 weeks PP. Less than 2 weeks away. My issue is I am sooooooo damn tired i have no clue how I am going to have the energy to work out after returning to work too?!?! Dear Lord this is gonna suck ass!
  • I am one week PP, and feeling anxious to start being more active. Our staff plays in a volleyball league and next week the two women who've been playing this year will be away at a conference; the team has to "field" a female, so it looks like I'll be going in. I'm nervous because I haven't practiced since October, and I hope it's not too much too fast, but I have been feeling pretty good physically.
