fort lauderdale

so my best friend came over today to tell me that she isn't getting married in february. i'm not as mad as I was a few weeks ago when she mentioned it, because last time her reasoning was, "i don't think I can deal with all this." his seizures are pretty bad and he isn't sure that he'll be cleared to fly. also, he didn't have health insurance (he does now) and has about $75k in hospital bills. since he's showing such a low income, a lot of it can be covered by charity care. but if they get married, his income includes hers, and they'll be stuck with most, if not all, of the bills. so i get her reasoning. it sucks that i already put out $460 but i can understand with this.

so if we don't get the house, hubby and i are going to go anyway and hang out for the weekend. i checked and disney is 3 1/2 hours from there so we probably won't do that. any advice on what to do in february in fort lauderdale/miami?  we'll get there friday afternoon and leave super early sunday.

i haven't booked the hotel yet. so if we don't go, i only lose the flight/rental car money.

Re: fort lauderdale

  • I think you should go. The weather should be nice. You can go to the beach or spa. You can go snorkeling glass bottom boats jet skiing.

  • I would totally go and enjoy the beach.  We used to go all the time as kids with the family and never stayed at a resort.  just a condo with a pool and we would walk to the beach every day and have fun there.  I  would absolutely take advantage and go!! :)

Actually now that I think of it, DH and I did a long weekend in Ft. Lauderdale before lo came along...I really like it there.  3 hour flight each way for a long weekend..
