I kind of hate Melissa and Doug

Why is all of their stuff wooden? And splintery? My mom loves them and is constantly buying DS Melissa and Doug things. She got him an easel for Christmas, which was a very nice thought, but it's wooden and HUGE and not sanded down at all, so it's kind of a death trap. I'm planning on switching it out when he's actually old enough for an easel. Their puzzles and toys aren't my favorite either.

    Oh wow, we have tons of M&D stuff and none of it is splintery. Perhaps you got a fluke piece?

    This. All our puzzles are M&D and we have no splinter issues!

    They're wood because it's better, safer, healthier, what-have-you for our kids.  I have a ton of the stuff and none of it's splintery!  Write them and see if you can get another one!

    Like everyone else, we have tons with no splinter issues. Maybe contact Customer Service? M&D prides themselves on quality products so I'd be surprised if they didn't help you out.

    My girls, especially DD#1 love their stuff. We have mostly kitchen things though. I only wish the "icing" for the cupcakes was washable marker.

    Looks like we're the only ones! I haven't had too many issues with their other stuff (though some of the puzzles are also a little rough), but DH and I both got splinters in our fingers from assembling that easel. Haven't decided if we should replace it or sand it down.
