Children's museum

Have any of you taken your LO to a children's museum? We have one close by that is supposed to be for ages 0 to 7. I know they have a water table that DD would enjoy but I can't decide if it would be a waste of money. Also I would like something besides story time to do with her.

Re: Children's museum

  • i say go for it. I live about 30 mins from a big city- and that's where all of the museums are. Maybe if i'm adventurous enough, I'll go into the city with her once it gets nice out, and take her to one of the kids museums. By then maybe she'll be walking around and interacting more.

  • Ours has a gated off area for babies/toddlers that DD loves. If you have a local library check w them for free passes. Give it a shot! We go often.

  • We have a Discovery Place Kids which I would think would be a similar concept and we started taking DS when he could crawl and he loved it.  I didn't renew our membership this past summer because of DD I knew we wouldn't make it there as much but am already planning to do so for her first birthday.  Maybe confirm if they have a specific baby/toddler area for LO to get down and play.

  • We haven't done a children's museum yet, but we did a science museum and natural history museum. He liked just looking at all the stuff and people there, so I imagine he would like the children's museum too.
  • Oh, and if you are looking for ideas other than museums, LO loves the aquarium too. (I'm assuming you want to stay inside since it's the winter.)
  • Thanks guys. I think I am going to take her this week. We don't have an aquarium close by but my parents do so maybe the next time we visit.
