Order of events at night

At night time, when do you change LOs diaper when they wake for a feeding? New diaper then feed LO? Change diaper in the middle of a feed? Change at the end? Don't change? Special snowflake?

With DS1 I usually changed him in the middle of a feed. He had one boob, then a diaper change to wake him for the second. Then second boob, re swaddle, back to rnp.

DS2 is only 2 days old so I don't have a pattern yet.

Just curious what others do.

We change diapers before I nurse. When LO was first born we had to do it this way to wake him up to nurse, now it's just a habit I guess.

Before I nurse. He absolutely hates diaper changes and takes a little while to calm down after them

Usually before nursing. But this LO is a mid-feed pooper so I may switch to mid-feed. Nothing like hearing a baby fart into a clean diaper at 130am to make you roll your eyes!

LO just feeds from one boob each time, so she gets a diaper change pre -feed.

Change her diaper first and strip her down. Feed on one side. Re-dress/change poopy diaper (she poops while eating most nights). Finish feeding.

This for me. Julia does not usually like diaper changes so we do it first and then she usually falls back asleep as soon as she's done with her bottle. Of course she is a frequent pooper so sometimes I'm forced to change her after as well.

I'm a before feed bc I'll have spit up spewing everywhere if it's mid feed or post feed. I go thru 10 burp cloths a day bc of my spitter upper! ~X(

As pp have said, depends what's in there when I start! Usually, I change (if it's poop) feed one side, wait 5 min for her to poop, change and then feed the other side. During the day, we have a different routine, but that's because she's a big day pooper!

I do it between sides during the night. It wakes her up enough to keep eating.

My boy poops before, during, and after feeds so it's almost nearly impossible to keep his diaper dry and clean. Thankfully he doesn't seem to mind, so I usually end up changing it pre-feed at night. If I attempt a mid-feed change, he will inevitably spit up large quantities of his feeding and then I'm pretty much back at square 1. Not a situation you want to create at 4am.

I usually feed on one side, change DS's diaper to wake him back up, and then feed on the other side. It works well most of the time. He occasionally poops (again) while feeding on the second side.
