Age or personality?

DS has become extremely stubborn and strong willed. He's 19 months. I'm hoping its a toddler phase that will get better as his communication skills do. But I was a very stubborn child so I fear this is payback. Any opinions on if this phase may get better? ;-)

Thanks for the input. He's always been somewhat strong willed, but lately it's gotten worse. Fingers crossed!

Yes. It is personality and yes it is age.

I find that a lot of gentle parenting techniques help even for some of the stubborn kids - give them options, use NO as little as possible, find a way to say yes even if you have to get creative. And patience. A whole lot of patience where you think "man, this sucks now, but it'll be great when he's 25!".

Ds is 20 months ( but 17 months adjusted) and he has started in as well. I feel like a big part of it is that he can't communicate what he wants which frustrates him...at least I hope!
