Vacuum recs?

We are badly in need of a new vacuum. Right now we have the windtunnel pet version which is almost 3 years old. It's ok but the stupid belt keeps falling off and I'm sick of taking the damn thing apart every time I need to vacuum which is multiple times a day.

Our sitter cleans for us as well and she brings her oreck over with her sometimes to give the house a good vacuuming. She said we should get a dyson though if we get a new one.

I've been looking into it and dysons are really expensive but they seem to be really good. Especially for pet hair which is a problem in this house. Anyone have a dyson that you love? Or another type?

I found a dyson animal for $289 refurbished on eBay and it comes with a 3 year warranty. The same one is on amazon for the same price but only has a 6 month warranty.
