Calm down jars

Have you guys heard of the calm down jars? I found them on pinterest and it was in my FB news feed. Anyway we made one this weekend and DS really liked it. Just thought i would pass that along in case anyone was thinking of making one! A lot of them are shown being made in a mason jar. But we made ours in a plastic bottle a lot like this one.

    It said your suppose to shake the jar and tell the child to sit quietly until all the glitter has fallen to the bottom (an alternative to time out i guess). This is suppose to give them a chance to re-direct their focus.

    Really DS just loved making it with me and he just plays/watches it. We haven't used it to "calm" him down yet lol.

    That's actually a really great idea!  I may have to try something like this down the road.  Right now, I'm thinking it work LO up more if he wasn't allowed to unscrew the lid.  Lol.

    It's water, food dye, glitter, and glitter glue. Or you can just add regular glue that is what keeps the glitter suspended.

    I even used one of those bath fizzy tablets for kids that dye the bath water. So essentially I didn't have to "buy" anything.
