Parenting after a Loss

Parenting book recs!

What are your favorite parenting books for sleep training, and general parenting tips? We have read pretty much nothing, even through pregnancy, but now that the girls are 2 months and I will be going back to work in 3 weeks, we want to get them transitioned to their room/crib, establish a "bed time", naps. etc. Up until now, we just bring them to our room when we go to bed and wake them to eat every 3 hours, but we are thinking it is time for a more long-term schedule. Thanks!

  • I like the Happiest Baby on the Block & the Happiest Toddler on the Block books. They give tons of wonderful tips that really work (some of the time anyway).

  • I liked the Baby Whisperer. I also just read The Sleepeasy Solution and decided to sleep train DD. She's five months this week and though I don't expect her to sleep thorough the night, I'd gotten into the habit of nursing her to sleep so she'd wake every two hrs at night needing my boob to go back to sleep.

I know sleep training is highly controversial here, but we were both exhausted, DD was so cranky. I started last Thursday and the longest she cried was 13 minutes. Last night she slept 7-7, with dream feeds at 10:30 and 3:00am. She's much happier during the day now and I feel semi rested! I highly recommend it.

I didn't care for the happiest baby on the block.  I love the book healthy sleep habits, happy child.  It came highly recommended to me and now I give it to every new mom I know.
