so I had my first nursing in public out to dinner with the family. I decided to try a blanket because I haven't purchased a cover yet. BAD IDEA! LO decides he is to distracted to eat (but also very hungry) and moves and thrashes so my DH had to help hold the blanket in place. But that wasn't even the bad part, it was handled fine. The worst was the freaky dad at the table across from me who kept staring at me! Sitting at his table with wife and newborn. Geeez I couldn't believe it. I finally gave him a look like WTF and he stopped. So whatever tomorrow I'm going to buy a cover and that is that. Next time having the blanket attached to me so I have both hands free will be I assume a lot better. First time over now for getting a system down

I live in India and I NIP with a cover! When I lived in Dubai, I used to NIP with a cover too but Dubai was fantastic in that every place had comfy seating areas for nursing mums adjacent to large and clean ladies rooms.
Here in Mumbai, it seems to be a bigger deal even with a cover but I don't care... I need to get out of the house. I unfortunately cant NIP discreetly because my boobs are bigger than DD2 head! Its so interesting that the Indian culture is so very into motherhood and breastfeeding as an expected outcome of having your baby, yet public nursing is so shocking.
