After 3 days of early labor, Elizabeth Anne was born at 0952 this morning! And on her Granddaddy's 57th birthday no less!
I had been at l&d earlier yesterday for my bp follow up. I told them I was still spotting and thought my water might be leaking. Since my labs all came back normal, the nurse offered to do a cervical check. I was 4cm and 90% effaced, a big leap from my dr appt the Wednesday before. The nurse was reluctant to send me home because she felt I was in labor but my contractions weren't quite there yet.
Fast forward to midnight and I was awakened by contractions I couldn't sleep through. I got out of bed to time them, 4 min apart and intense. I timed for 2hrs to be sure, by which time they were 2-3min apart. We dropped off Emme and headed in. The same nurse from earlier that evening was our intake nurse! Lol
I progressed quickly and was pushing by 0630. I pushed for 3 hours before the on call dr busted out the vacuum. Ellie's head was at an odd angle so she was not budging! Pushing was good, pushing her out with the vacuum was torture. I was screaming at that point. I ended up with 3 tears, a 2nd degree on the bottom, a 1st on top, and a 1st just inside.
Ellie came out 7lbs 10oz and 20" long. Initially her breathing was labored but after an hour and some suction she evened out. We are trying to get the hang of latching now, she's confused!
But my beautiful termie is here!! Also all of you who said that showering and getting into your own clothes was the bees knees, I'm so glad I listened. Right now I am trying so hard to not focus on how much I hurt.
Here are some pics for making it through this mega-post!
