Breastfeeding

leaking

I've finally got breastfeeding under control and am only pumping when needed, taking a break and pumping for 24 hours last week seemed to do the trick. I still have a bit of pain on my right breast sometimes, but nothing that isn't managable. Anyway, how to you handle leaking? I went from disposable pads, to reusable pads, I've even tried to put washcloths in my bra and I still make a mess. I put a cloth diaper in my bra last night and my shirt was still wet. I am feeding every 2-3 hours, which is exactly what the ped said to do. Any thoughts?

Re: leaking

  • It's just a time thing, like the p.p. said. I do still leak occasionally when I nurse motn, because my supply is higher then and both sides let down when she is nursing on one side. I've learned to counter-act that by putting a light pressure on the nipple that she's not nursing on for the first few minutes. In the beginning, I didn't bother with a bra or anything, just walked around in a t-shirt. I did often wake up soaking wet, it was amazing how much milk would leak out, because I have a totally average supply. I just changed my shirt when I would wake up wet. I also slept on a towel in the early days as well.
