1 - does your company normally have a holiday party? no, there are only 3 of us. We did eat lunch together yesterday though.
1a - did/will your company have a holiday party this year? DH takes his "guys" out for dinner which we did a few weeks ago.
2 - do you/will you bring gifts in for anyone at your company? if so, what? I made them a bunch of candy
3 - did you receive gifts from anyone? if so what? does them buying lunch count?
4 - do you have to work tomorrow? if so, does your office close early? what about friday? after today I don't work again until Jan. 5th

3 - did you receive gifts from anyone? if so what? My boss usually gets each of us in my department a Yankee Candle gift.
4 - do you have to work tomorrow? if so, does your office close early? what about friday? Half day tomorrow. Closed Thurs-Fri.
5 - has your company had any lay-offs this year? is there talk of lay-offs in the new year? Luckily, no talk of it. I work in a great place and I'm very thankful!

2 - do you/will you bring gifts in for anyone at your company? if so, what? yes, i brought in little snow globes for all of my dept coworkers (10!)
3 - did you receive gifts from anyone? if so what? yes, all from coworkers, and my boss. so far lots of candy, lol
and a nice memo pad, candle holder, snowman candle, cookies, stuff like that. it's nice! 
4 - do you have to work tomorrow? if so, does your office close early? what about friday? yes, ofc is open tomorrow and i have to be here, but we get out at 3. friday we are closed.
5 - has your company had any lay-offs this year? is there talk of lay-offs in the new year? yes, about 19 people were laid off in october. they have announced that there will be more layoffs in january.

1a - did/will your company have a holiday party this year? Yes it was last Friday we went and brought the baby
2 - do you/will you bring gifts in for anyone at your company? if so, what? I didn't bring anything this year, usually bake some stuff though
3 - did you receive gifts from anyone? if so what? Yes some baked goods, homemade candy and a homemade M&M dispenser for my DH YAY.

5 - has your company had any lay-offs this year? is there talk of lay-offs in the new year? We have cut overtime and yes unfortunately done a few lay-offs.
Yes, with our department and also with our entire unit. Our dept. is about 27 people. Our unit is more like 50-60.
Yes but I am off on maternity and did not attend.
Usually we do secret santa in our office with those who choose to participate. We also adopt a family and buy gifts for the family. Last year we adopted a family and we also sent care packages to the troops.
Not this year since I'm not here but last year I participated in secret santa. I recieved 2 kind of stupid gifts but my last gift was a stained glass piece that one of my coworkers made.. really cool.
Our office closes the week between Christmas and New Years. Since I"m off already, I'll get paid holiday time for that week but my maternity leave will still only be 6 weeks. I should have been pregnant sooner so I could have benefited from that free week!!
I work for a large institution. The campus side of things has been pretty safe.. no lay offs that I've heard of. The hospital side of things is not so great. The hospital is actually closing any department that does not produce revenue so basically medical staff is safe but admins and clerical people not so much. I've known a few people that will be losing their jobs come Feb. It really sucks.
1 - does your company normally have a holiday party? We normally do an employee only one during the day, however this year we did an after hours party with spouses.

2 - do you/will you bring gifts in for anyone at your company? if so, what? Yes I do.....the type of gifts depend on who I am buying for. A lot of baking stuff, hot chocolate, and alcohol.

4 - do you have to work tomorrow? if so, does your office close early? what about friday? I have to work a half day. We are closed Thursday and Friday.
5 - has your company had any lay-offs this year? is there talk of lay-offs in the new year? No layoffs this year, however they have cut back on the hourly employees hours and if things don't improve we will have to lay-off some employees. I am thankful I am a salaried employee right now.

1a - did/will your company have a holiday party this year? We did but it was on a much smaller scale, not nearly as fancy. It was held at the owner's house and everyone thought they just shouldn't of had one to save the moeny

4 - do you have to work tomorrow? if so, does your office close early? what about friday? No, I'm off Wed-Friday. We usually just get Xmas Eve and Xmas but the office manager asked that they give Friday as well being we haven't gotten bonuses or raises in two years.
5 - has your company had any lay-offs this year? is there talk of lay-offs in the new year? We've been having them for about two years. I'm not sure if they are going to let people go this year, it wouldn't surprise me.

1a - did/will your company have a holiday party this year? I think they had the firmwide one but not the lawyers/clients one.
2 - do you/will you bring gifts in for anyone at your company? if so, what? I give my assistant a gift. I gave her a Nordstrom gift card and some candy from Williams Sonoma.
3 - did you receive gifts from anyone? if so what? My assistant made us some food (she attended a ritzy culinary school and has a catering/personal chef business).
4 - do you have to work tomorrow? if so, does your office close early? what about friday? Yes tomorrow. Don't officially close early but I'll probably leave early. We're closed Friday.

No layoffs that I know off but some legal gossip blogs have had rumblings that my firm has engaged in "stealth" layoffs (letting people go for economic reasons but claiming it's performance related). I don't buy it though.

5 - has your company had any lay-offs this year? is there talk of lay-offs in the new year? We did have some layoffs this year and I think there will be more next year too.

2 - do you/will you bring gifts in for anyone at your company? if so, what? Not everyone. I'm close to my bosses and 1 other girl at work. I also bought for our receptionist and 2 other coworkers. Bosses & close friend got Silpada jewelry. Someone hosts a show every year and we pick out our holiday gifts from each other. I got our receptionist a Dunkin Donuts gift card & a candle, a manicure set for other coworker and a Tinkerbell ornament for other coworker (she's a tink finatic)
3 - did you receive gifts from anyone? if so what? We didn't exchange with bosses yet, but I know I'll be getting jewelry! I also got a nice scarf from receptionist, a poinsetta from another coworker and an ornament from another.

5 - has your company had any lay-offs this year? is there talk of lay-offs in the new year? Sort of. We "laid off" a few people that weren't cutting it. Better to call it lay off than firing, I guess. There are a few more that I think will also go as well early next year. Partially b/c of the economy and partially b/c they aren't very good at their jobs.

2 - do you/will you bring gifts in for anyone at your company? if so, what? Sorta. My dogs made my coworkers dog a treat-filled ornament. One of my best friends works here, to, so I gave him his dogs ornament at work.

5 - has your company had any lay-offs this year? is there talk of lay-offs in the new year? No, just hirings. Its a small, high-tech, company, so lay-offs probably won't happen.
1. We used to have awesome holiday parties until we got bought out two years ago. Since then we have our "holiday" party in late January... not quite as festive then, unfortunately.
1a. yes, it's in January though, but they're having it at a really nice historical hotel in downtown DC so maybe it'll be fun this year.
2. I buy gift cards for the two people who work for me and I gave my boss and my VP boxes of caramels.
3. My boss always makes homemade jam and hands them out. I also got a holiday picture frame and candles from one of my direct reports.
4. Office is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but open on Friday. :-(
5. No lay-offs this year and so far no talks of lay-offs in the new year either. *fingers crossed*

5 - has your company had any lay-offs this year? is there talk of lay-offs in the new year? No economy-related layoffs that I know of, but I think there's a hiring freeze. I'm glad that my contract runs on three year cycles so I know I'm safe for at least a couple more years.

Yes, a cocktail buffet at a local hotel. They also do a potluck lunch/white elephant party during the day.

A Barnes & Noble gift card from my boss and an ornament from our finance guy. I feel guilty I didn?t do anything.

Tomorrow is a work day but I took it off. I?m sure we will close early but they usually don?t announce it until the last minute. We are closed Friday.
