Let's talk swaddling technique

Jack has to be swaddled at night or else he constantly scares himself awake. I started off with muslin blankets.... Work great, but I'm not the best at swaddling and he easily breaks out, Then I switched to sleep sack Swaddle, I got as a gift. I thought it was great for a week, but I think it's too heavy and that now he's chunky and regulating body temp he gets sweaty and mad. 3am this morning I ordered a woombie on amazon.... (You should not be allowed to shop in the middle of the night while nursing, I'm going broke, :) ) What is working for you? What isn't?

  • Halo sleep sack is working great for us. We have one fleece one and one cotton one and pick which one to use based on what we have her in underneath. (Fleece sleeper goes in cotton sleep sack, cotton gown goes undur fleece sleep sack)

I'm such a dummer, I didn't know they made cotton ones! I've been doing fleece sleeper with fleece sleep sack

  • We have the halo sleep sacks, cotton and fleece. We don't put anything under the fleece, and tonight we just did a short sleeve onesie under the cotton. He usually gets his arms out, but he's a side sleeper and uses them to roll himself. My child is odd.

  • I have used the Miracle Blanket for months with my sons. It's great for escape artists - no way they can get their hands out of it.

I don't have swaddling advice, but this made me laugh. With my first, I discovered the joy of watching QVC in the middle of the night. (It was the "olden" days - 2008 - so no iPads or iPhones) Super dangerous!!

This! It is the only thing she will sleep in at night.

We use Aden and Anais cotton muslin swaddles during the day. One of the nurses showed us a hip-safe swaddle right before we left the hospital. We fold the corners together to make a big triangle, lay it point down, put her in the middle. Fold one side in and slightly tuck under her, leave the end free. Fold up the bottom. Fold the other side in and wrap all the way around as you pick LO up!

    Hope this helps.

  • We use halo sleep sacks too. We only have a fleece one so I should get a cotton one too.

  • Summer infant swaddle me! The halo sleep sacks give our little guy too much leg room and he stays awake in them. These ones wrap him up nice and tight but are cotton and breathable. We just put a baby T (long sleeve) underneath and of course his diaper.

  • Halo sleep-sack swaddles were awesome for getting DS to sleep. We bought only 4 of them but used and washed them so often that only one of them remains to be passed down to DD. We loved them.

When DS was a newborn this swaddle technique worked the best! We did it with an A&A swaddle blanket.

This looks freaking genius. Can't wait to try it.

I do traditional swaddle with A&A blankets now. Those have been worth every penny. ..

  • We use the miracle blanket- It works really well for our little escape artist and isn't too thick. It is also very helpful with breastfeeding bc my little guys gets his hands in the way and tries to put them in his mouth instead of the boob.

  • We had been using A&A muslin blankets, but DH doesn't swaddle very well. We just got two bamboo miracle blankets and so far they are working great! They're so soft and not too thick.

  • FTM but I have a mix of SwaddlePod's, SwaddleMe's, Halo Sleep Sack, and a Woombie. I've heard great things about the latter, so I wouldn't necc get rid of yours. I got all of these at 2nd hand sales, eBay, or they were given to me...so I haven't spent much of anything but I'm most looking forward to using the pods and the woombie. The velcro on the SwaddleMe's is a PITA to me and I could see how it would wake or startle the baby. We'll see.

Quinn hates the woombie but does love the halo sleep sack. I also felt the woombie was too tight on the hips/legs.
