Biting

DS has recently taken to biting. He's obviously doing it for a reaction and the bigger the reaction, the more he wants to do it. At this point, we just keep telling him no and that it hurts, but he usually laughs. He just turned one, so I don't feel like a time out would do any good. I'm not into biting back or spanking. So, how do you handle it with your LOs? How long did the stage last?

    DS has also started doing it, but right now he is biting himself or inanimate objects. I know it's out of frustration and him not being able to express himself. With DD I would yelp "ouch" and remove myself from her telling her that she hurt mommy. She didn't like being left alone, so she quickly nipped that behavior. I'm hoping DS is the same, although he seems to be more stubborn and spirited. Wishing us both luck!
