Can't sleep and Exhausted For Work...Anything worked for anyone else?

For the past 2 weeks I am having a real hard time sleeping, my breasts hurt really bad and it's uncomfortable because my stomach has been very bloated.  In turn, I am just exhausted as heck and am having a hard time staying awake at work and barely getting any work done.  Does anyone have any home remedies or have tried anything that gets you through this part of the pregnancy?

  • I have no remedies...I'm in the same boat.  I'm falling asleep on the couch by 8:30 but as soon as I move to the bed I'm laying awake, uncomfortable and unable to sleep.  Then I'm exhausted at work.  By lunch I'm ready for a nap.  I'll be curious to see what everyone else says.

  • I'm guessing you might be a stomach sleeper?

For me, I wedge a puffy but soft pillow under my torso on the side I am facing, and sort of hug it too. It seems to help.
  • The Boppy pregnancy pillow saved me during my pregnancy....I started using it at around 7-8 weeks pregnant and it helped me sleep much better. GL!

  • I take Unisom which has diphenhydramine (Benadryl) in it and my doc says that safe to use. It's been a big help! I'm like you a stomach sleeper that's been having a hard time sleeping on my stomach bc my boobs hurt so bad. I just ordered the snoogle so I'm hoping that helps as well!

  • Have you tried taking melatonin?  It is safe during pregnancy and is available in the supplement section of a drug store.

Also, try a relaxing bath before bed.  It helps me unwind.
  • I get on my phone and read TB (like, um, right now). Not recommended.

  • I'm only 6 weeks pregnant and I didn't think it was normal to feel so tired, bloated, and not be able to sleep already! Reading this made me feel so much better. I'm heading out to buy one of those pillows right now!
  • I am so glad to hear all of you are having the same symptoms. I am 10 weeks pregnant and I have been so tired mid day at work, I looked up some healthy foods that give you natural energy and that didnt make a difference. All that has helped is taking a power nap in my work break room during my lunch break. Thankfully my co workers love me and dont make fun of me too much.
  • I was seriously JUST THERE!

Do you know what helped me a lot? Beef Jerky! It has a ton of iron in it and its easy. My doctor told me to get more iron to get more energy and I felt SO MUCH BETTER after.

Also, for the sore nipples, try some nipple cream before you go to bed.

    Hang in there!
  • I took Melatonin periodically before I was PG and thought it would be fine during pregnancy as well, but my OB said NO!

  • I have been taking Unisom (doxyalmine) for nausea and it helps me fall asleep. I only take 1/2 a pill.

  • Benedryl and both forms of Unisom are fine to take every day during pregnancy and can help you sleep. :)
