  I have the strap, but haven't installed it yet. Honestly, if your leaving it on the floor and being attentive while your child is using it there really isn't an issue. The issue was an idiot was using the seat on a counter & the child fell. It says very specifically to use it on the floor only & not to use it as a booster seat, etc. If you use it properly it is safe with or without the strap IMO.

  I agree. Use it on the floor and be attentive. The recall was from people putting them on tables and countertops and then baby falls out. If you keep it on the floor you should be fine.

  Oh I would never put it on a table. I don't know what person in their right mind would do that, but obviously someone was stupid enough to do it and prompt a recall.
  
  I was more curious about the seat post strap installation. I watched the video on the bumbo site and it seems cheap & too easy of a solution.

  I didn't use a strap at all with my Bumbo. It didn't come with one so I bought the tray and thought it worked just fine.

  This. Strap is completely unnessary if you are using it properly and if you are not using it properly, the strap isn't going to add any additional safety. We never used it and don't plan to use it this time either. If baby is in the bumbo, mom or dad is in arms reach... ALWAYS. And bumbo only goes on floor.

  FWIW, our Bumbo came with the strap, and we never use it. We never felt it was necessary since we use it in a proper way. The first few times we strapped him in and that was useless, DS isn't going anywhere when sitting in the Bumbo.
  
  We actually have a hard time taking him out hah thigh chunk ftw

  I have the strap from the recall.  I never bothered to put it on.  I always watched my kids in it and kept it on the floor.  I have it in case I want to sell it.
