Weekend Away

So DH and I are going away next weekend (we leave Friday and will be back Sunday). We'll be leaving DD with my parents which I am totally comfortable with. The thing that has me nervous is making sure we have enough breast milk for them. I am going to track how often she's eating over a 24 hour period and go from there. Any tips on making sure we leave enough BM?

Re: Weekend Away

  • All I can say is make sure you definitely have more than you think you need. My hubby and I went away to a wedding overnight and had my mum and sister look after our LO. I had basically a normal days worth of milk pumped in the fridge for them, then any extra that they needed in the freezer. For some reason that day she drank like twice of what she normally has and the milk pile I had in the fridge only lasted a couple of hours...Luckily I had a pretty big stock in the freezer to get her through!

  • Yep! When my mom would watch my DD while I worked she would eat a lot more than normal even after just nursing. Have plenty of back up. I would leave it frozen that way it does not waste if she does not end up needing it.

  • I would leave 30-35 oz per day and request that they pace feed your LO to ensure they aren't just feeding a cry. Have a nice weekend away!
  • Thanks all!! :D
