Baby mattress recommendations

Hey ladies! Wondering what everyone is doing for a crib mattress. I've found some that are cheap and some that are spendy. Any suggestions? I'm assuming I want a waterproof pad too am I right? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Thanks!

Re: Baby mattress recommendations

  • We are doing the Sealy soybean foam core mattresses. I think they are ~$85 on Amazon right now. Using the Carter's waterproof quilted pads.

  • I have no advice (sorry!) but want to add my own question: Anybody have thoughts on spring vs foam?

We got the $39 one from walmart and it's perfect https://www.walmart.com/ip/Kolcraft-Pediatric-800-Crib-and-Toddler-Mattress/19235377. It's cheap and comfy and plenty firm enough. It fits our sheets and crib perfectly and is super light for the inevitable 3000 diapers changes that come. My daughter has used it for 2.5 years and it will be passed on. Oh, and we do have a mattress cover for over it and under the mattress. The mattress would probably wipe clean, but I didn't want to take chances.

  • I've been buying all my nursery things (furniture, crib bedding, decor, etc...) from overstock.com. The mattress we bought came cheaper in a bundle with the crib and changing table we wanted (SCORE!), and it had good reviews https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/DaVinci-Twilight-6-inch-Ultra-Firm-Deluxe-Crib-Mattress/3000562/product.html.

  • We have a Colgate mattress.  I forget exactly which one and DS is sleeping.  I *think* it's the Eco Classica (Amazon Link).

I would really recommend a good sturdy foam mattress.  Just remember, the lighter the mattress, the easier middle of the night sheet changing will be...

  • Haven't decided on exact one yet, but have been researching a ton. We definitely decided on foam vs core, and want a two-sided or flippable or whatever so it is softer for a toddler bed.
