Re: GTKY 1/17 Edi.!
Well, I stayed home from work today but I have the plague so it felt less like something I chose to do and more like something that chose me. Other than that, I've really just been trying to keep myself sane. But I have a gift card to a spa and I'm thinking of treating myself to a mani/pedi and/or facial soon.
2. Describe your wardrobe/closet 'condition' (neat/messy, big/small, etc.)
Empty. Last week I cleared out all the clothes that don't fit me, and there's not much left! It's on the big side for my house, which is old and generally has small closets (our master bedroom is in a comparatively recent addition). But based on my experience watching House Hunters, lots of Americans would think it is way too small! It has a custom closet organization system in it, though, so it tends to stay fairly organized.
3. What's your favorite ethnic food? Favorite dish(es)? Can you make it, or only eat it out?
Overall, Turkish. I have some eastern Mediterranean cookbooks with Turkish recipes, but I've never been able to make food as good as my favorite Turkish restaurant. My favorite dish there is the chicken adana kebab with yogurt sauce. Runner up: Indian, I think. Anything with paneer in it. But I have favorite ethnic dishes from random cuisines that don't necessarily win overall: Taiwanese soup dumplings, for instance. The tacos at my neighborhood taqueria are amazing.
4. What's the scariest and/or most adventurous thing you've ever done?
I'm truly not adventurous. Sometimes proceeding with fertility treatments, especially knowing they could end in another miscarriage, ranked pretty high up there on the scary scale.
5. What are you up to this weekend?
I have a nasty cold, thank you Wife. Started feeling craptastic on Wednesday night but powered through date night; I had taken yesterday off as a bonus vacation day but probably would have called in sick if I hadn't, and I did call in sick today. This gives me a 5-day weekend, which I feel slightly guilty about, but I am a train wreck and couldn't have managed work today. Twice I have coughed until I vomited. I have no appetite, my throat hurts, my ears hurt, my glands are swollen, and my chest is so congested it's hard to breathe normally. I have become intimately acquainted with the approved meds list my OB practice gave me (Robitussin DM seems to be helping, though it is truly foul). I'm also drinking a lot of hot water with lemon and honey.
So yeah...it looks like that's pretty much going to be my weekend. We had lunch plans with a friend tomorrow but I doubt I'll feel up to it. My wife works Sunday and Monday. If I have the energy, I might do some baby gear research since I can do it on the couch and it will make me feel sort of productive.
BONUS: Shout out to another bumpie of choice! Encouragement, appreciation, praise, etc.
I really, really want to see @Manada pregnant with @Healz413's baby on their next IVF attempt. A sticky, healthy, happy, Healzy baby. So just keep doing what you're doing, my friends, and Mr. Baby and I will be rooting for you extra hard!

1. What is something awesome you've done for yourself lately?
Hmm...I have been going to bed early/when I feel like I need to. I have also been putting my feet up a lot at night (since I started my little swelling routine)... I think I have just been allowing myself to take it easy a little more than I was before. That's about it, I guess. I would really like a pedicure, but not sure if/when that will happen...
2. Describe your wardrobe/closet 'condition' (neat/messy, big/small, etc.)
My wardrobe is somewhat limited right now. It is a mix of maternity pants and a few maternity tops, but mostly "regular person" tops that are a size or two larger than my pre-pregnancy size. I am now at a point where none of my "real clothes" fit me, so my options are somewhat slim. I also have a few dresses that I bought for work. My wife and I share an L-shaped walk-in closet. I like the set-up since I have one "arm" of the closet and she has the other. So we both have our own space, but it is a shared walk-in closet. Our house is 200 years old, and the previous owners re-did the layout of the upstairs to add an upstairs bathroom sometime in the 60s we think. Originally there were three bedrooms upstairs, but they reconfigured it to two bedrooms, a hall bathroom and a walk-in closet that joins the two bedrooms. My side of the closet is messier than my wife would like, but it is really not that bad. I just have A LOT of stuff, in my opinion...
3. What's your favorite ethnic food? Favorite dish(es)? Can you make it, or only eat it out?
So, I am not really a big ethnic food person (in terms of what is trendy or somewhat adventurous). I don't really like asian food as a general rule. There are about 2-3 dishes of classic chinese food that I enjoy, but that is the extent of it. In terms of food I do like, I love Greek food (my mom is Greek) -- spanikopita (spinach pie) is my favorite. I also very much enjoy Italian food and most French food. Otherwise, I am pretty boring.
4. What's the scariest and/or most adventurous thing you've ever done?
So, much like with food... I am not really THAT adventurous... my risks are all pretty calculated and I am not very spontaneous. So, in terms of physical activities, I would say that the most adventurous thing I have done is parasailing with my wife in St. Thomas a few years ago. I was terrified, but it was totally awesome. In terms of the scariest thing I have done, I think embarking on our TTC journey and now growing a human in my belly is the clear winner there...
5. What are you up to this weekend?
My mother-in-law is coming to stay with us for the weekend and we are going to shop for baby and maybe start our registry... I love my MIL and enjoy spending time with her, so I am excited. She has all kinds of things she wants to do (go out to breakfast, go to the movies, help us organize our basement HA)... so I think we will be busy, but I think it will be fun!
BONUS: Shout out to another bumpie of choice! Encouragement, appreciation, praise, etc. I too would like to shout out to @manada and @healz413. I have everything humanly possibly tightly crossed for you both this cycle. You are such awesome people and you will be super fantastic parents, and I can't wait to see you move over to your pregnancy journey very, very soon!

What is something awesome you've done for yourself lately? I am not sure about this. Kinda had myself in a negative place, so maybe the positive thing I can do is work harder at moving myself in that direction.
2. Describe your wardrobe/closet 'condition' (neat/messy, big/small, etc.) It is semi messy. I would like it to be better but our darn kitten gets in there and knocks all of my shoes off the organizer and, just to show him, I don't pick them up right away LOL. Other than that it is pretty neat.
3. What's your favorite ethnic food? Favorite dish(es)? Can you make it, or only eat it out? I do not know if I have a favorite ethnic food...maybe enchiladas verde? I do love me some cookie dough flautas at Tijuana Flats (if you have never had this and have one of these places by you...GO GET ONE!!), I love pastas. Really love grilled vegetables that we make at home.
4. What's the scariest and/or most adventurous thing you've ever done?I went sky-diving for my 29th birthday/my brother's 40th birthday. It was absolutely terrifying and also the most amazing thing I have ever done! I cannot wait to go again.
BONUS: Shout out to another bumpie of choice! Encouragement, appreciation, praise, etc. I don't think I have one particular person...I wish all of us the best of luck in our journey. There have been just too many that have helped me out on this board to pick just one.
Married to M and proud mothers to Olivia and Elise (8/19/2014) and to our fur-babies: Capone (pitbull), Jax and Atticus (cats)
1. What is something awesome you've done for yourself lately?
I'm not really proud of this, but I've been letting myself off the hook about work. I'm not very motivated and I'm not doing a good job. This is a drastic change for me. Before baby, I worked my a$$ off. I traveled all over the country, and kept ridiculous hours. I answered emails and texts literally 24 hours a day. I have a new job and I have not set that precendent here. But, frankly, I think this is the only way that I can have enough energy to devote to my little guy.
2. Describe your wardrobe/closet 'condition' (neat/messy, big/small, etc.)
S and I share a big L-shaped closet. It's not organized or laid out well. It's a DISASTER AREA which is 100% my fault. I have an absolute ton of clothes. It's not that I buy things often, it's that I never get rid of anything. I have many articles of clothing from high school in there. It's ridiculous and I hate it.
3. What's your favorite ethnic food? Favorite dish(es)? Can you make it, or only eat it out?
I love food. I truly love all food. I also really love to cook, so I typically try to make those things that I love eating. Italian, French, Mexican, Greek, Indian, you name it. I guess what I DON'T attempt at home are things with an asian flavor. Pad Thai is a great example of something that I love but will only eat in a restaurant (or if someone else wants to make it for me at their home, that'd be way cool too).
4. What's the scariest and/or most adventurous thing you've ever done?
Didn't seem scary at the time, but my Sister and I got on a plane in 1997 and flew to Europe for 3 months with pretty much NO plans and no where lined up to stay. We had an amazing time and everything worked out well. Maybe that's because we didn't have any expectations. Looking back I wonder if we were completely nuts, or if times were just different enough.
Other than that, going tubing through caves in New Zealand was a highlight. Not because it's scary for any normal person, but I have some claustrophobia issues so it was a HUGE deal for me.
5. What are you up to this weekend?
We actually have a date tonight! We are going to see a movie. In a theatre! We have a friend who owes us a babysitting night, and she is comfortable with our freak of a dog (more importantly, he is comfortable with her). She's a Mommy too and nothing phases her, so I really don't think we'll worry. I'm excited, but I am also secretly wishing we were just going to check into a hotel and sleep for 4 hours.
Other than tonight, we have swimming lessons tomorrow and then supper club in the evening. Sunday I have rehearsal and I'm toying with the idea of going to the Children's Museum before that, because it's free this weekend. Then we'll cycle laundry, do dishes, clean, and get ready to it all again next week!

There are a bunch of people I'd like to shout out to, but I think I'll recognize someone who hasn't been mentioned yet ... @2MamazinSeattle, you showed up on this board at some point during my pregnancy. You immediately showed us all what an intelligent, kind, empathetic and energetic community member you are. After I had Gabe, went AWOL for a while, and then came back, I was delighted to see how much of a difference you have made here. You are a support system and a resource for everyone here who chooses to accept your help. THANK YOU!

2. Describe your wardrobe/closet 'condition' (neat/messy, big/small, etc.), its a smaller closet but its only for me its well organized, with work clothes on one side organized with pants, sweats, long sleeve, short sleeve. Same set up on other side with my everyday clothes, in the back has clothes I don't wear often but just in case dresses and such.
3. What's your favorite ethnic food? Favorite dish(es)? Can you make it, or only eat it out? I love Sushi! Never tried to make at home.
4. What's the scariest and/or most adventurous thing you've ever done? I agree with @ball.and.chain trying to get pregnant and this whole process has been the biggest thing for me. All the highs and lows and with recent turn of events by far the scariest for me.

1. What is something awesome you've done for yourself lately?
I started a new workout competition at our gym. I have a feeling that this is going to be one of the most physically demanding things I have ever done!
2. Describe your wardrobe/closet 'condition' (neat/messy, big/small, etc.)
Our closets are out of control. We have a three bedroom house. In our bedroom there is a long closet. C has one side and I have the other. In our "baby" room (where my neice sleeps and hopefully our own children will sleep someday) is an extra closet where C's stuff is and in the guest room there is an extra closet where my stuff is. We both have WAY too much and they are pretty messy.
3. What's your favorite ethnic food? Favorite dish(es)? Can you make it, or only eat it out?
I love ethnic food! Sushi, thai, indian, greek...yum! I am good with making greek and thai food but sushi and indian I will leave to the professionals.
4. What's the scariest and/or most adventurous thing you've ever done?
When I graduated college I became a high ropes course instructor. It was the scariest and most adventurous things I've done.
5. What are you up to this weekend?
Oh geez, our weekend is SO up in the air. We MAY be visiting my parents on saturday and we are going to see C's parents as well as hitting up IKEA on monday.
There are so many fellow bumpers that I feel I have grown so close with. I feel like @manada and @healz4132MamazInSeattle is such an incredible supporter and really shows that she cares for others. 1. What is something awesome you've done for yourself lately?
Hmmm...bought new pants. No matter what the reason, I love shopping and buying new clothes. We generally shop at second hand stores (I have gotten insanely cheap over the past few years) so to go out and buy brand new pants was a treat for me.
2. Describe your wardrobe/closet 'condition' (neat/messy, big/small, etc.)
The closet is mainly mine. The only thing of C's in it are sweatshirts. It isn't a walk in but is almost the full length of our bedroom. It is organized but full. We each have a dresser in the bedroom as well. Somehow, we still have clothes everywhere. I empty out frequently but it never seems like I get rid of much.
3. What's your favorite ethnic food? Favorite dish(es)? Can you make it, or only eat it out?
I could eat tziki sauce on anything 24/7. I found a recipe on Pinterest but have yet to attempt making it. One of my favorite actual foods, though a dessert, is baklava. I haven't attempted to make this yet either.
4. What's the scariest and/or most adventurous thing you've ever done?
I can't say that I lead a very adventurous life. I would say the scariest thing I've ever done was go Geocaching in the middle of the night out in the woods. I know that might not sound super scary, but it was! C and I met some of her family up on a nearby dirt road. When you go after night caches, there are generally reflective pins that lead you in and back out. We ended up in two separate groups, with her Uncle and me in the lead. We got to where we thought we were supposed to be and thought we saw another light headed at us. We were confused and thought C and her Aunt and cousin were behind us. There were a few concerning noises in there as well. C, her Aunt and cousin caught up with us and confirmed that they had been behind us the whole time. We found the cache and promptly started to find our way back out. Her Uncle, who is a big guy and generally isn't afraid of anything, stopped and heard another noise and told us all to keep moving and get back as quick as we could. We never saw anything, but being in the woods when it is dark and not knowing what is out there is always scary to me.
5. What are you up to this weekend?
I'm trying to get the house picked up today, even though I should be resting. I also have a cold. I called off work yesterday and went in for only 3 hours today. I'm working on the house a little at a time. Tomorrow we are going to a friend's for a spa related party. We get free facials and foot massages. I'm really looking forward to that. Sunday I have to give a presentation for work. Other than that, probably not much.
BONUS: Shout out to another bumpie of choice! Encouragement, appreciation, praise, etc.
I can't possibly pick just one person...
@atxmommas & @herbabymama - I loved following you both through your pregnancies and now with your LOs. You both are always very positive and I have learned a lot from both of you.
@ball.and.chain & @2Mamaz - You are both incredible woman who have been through so much. I hope more than anything that you both are now carrying your take home babies. I cannot wait for the day to come when we are anxiously awaiting updates on the arrivals of your LOs.
@KH826 - You are always positive and real about how you're feeling and what is going on. I appreciate that and am enjoying following you through your pregnancy. It really seems like just yesterday that you were doing your transfer.
Finally... @doodah1013, @firstcomeslove2013, @Manada & @Healz413 - I hope that this year brings you all your take home babies. My hope in my head is that there will come a time when the TTC check-in won't be there because we will all be pregnant. You all have been on a long journey. I believe it was @2Mamaz who once said that the only way is through. She is correct. Keep pushing through and know that we are all thinking of you and behind you. Keep your heads up and don't give up.

2. Describe your wardrobe/closet 'condition' (neat/messy, big/small, etc.) My DW and I share a walk in closet. Our house is very old, so it isn't a really awesome walk in, but it is bigger than most closets I have had. It does have a lot of shelves so we have a lot of room. We are both organized, so it is in very neat condition.
5. What are you up to this weekend? DW is supposed to be on duty tomorrow and have hockey on Sunday, as well as a birthday party for one of my nephews. We are both sick so I'm not sure if she will make it to work and she doesn't want me to go to hockey unless I am 100%...we'll see. Looks like it will be another weekend on the couch watching movies.

We are away this weekend in Vancouver and so I had time to post the questions but not answer until now!
1. What is something awesome you've done for yourself lately?
I award myself 10 points for being super consistent about prenatal yoga since I was 5w - I realize that was only a month ago, but 2-3x/week has been an effort but totally worth it!
2. Describe your wardrobe/closet 'condition' (neat/messy, big/small, etc.)
Oh I'm a total slob. BUT, currently it is in good order - we have a small, old 1919 house so I use the future baby's room closet, and J uses the one in our room. I do a pretty good job of purging and am fairly limited in volume but it's small size, which is good.
3. What's your favorite ethnic food? Favorite dish(es)? Can you make it, or only eat it out?
Well, if we went on frequency it'd be Mexican because we go every week with friends. BUT, after growing up thinking ethnic food = either Italian or Mexican, Seattle was an awakening. I love Asian food and though we lack Chinese food here, Thai, Indian, Japanese and Vietnamese are ubiquitous and I could eat myself out of a tub of any of these.
4. What's the scariest and/or most adventurous thing you've ever done?
I had weight loss surgery in 2005, and plastic surgery to remove extra skin in 2006 - both of these choices were scary!!
5. What are you up to this weekend?
Today we went to visit the Swiss Water Decaffeination plant here - one of only two on the continent. It was SO interesting!! Basically we learned the process (basically they use water to soak the caffeine out of the green/raw coffee), saw the production plant, the labs (yes, they have chemists on staff), and had an amazing Peru decaf coffee. I was a little worried about my super-nose right now, because green coffee smells super funky, but I did fine! Tomorrow a little coffee crawl before heading home. Dinner at a friend's house Sat., and Sunday is yoga, chores and Seahawks!

2. Describe your wardrobe/closet 'condition' (neat/messy, big/small, etc.)
EV and I share a walk-thru closet. Our closet leads into the master bath from our bedroom. It's pretty big and has some shelves, etc. I guess it's pretty neat and tidy (for me). But anyone with OCD would freak out ;-) I am a terrible folder, especially with my Mommy-lounge clothes :-)
3. What's your favorite ethnic food? Favorite dish(es)? Can you make it, or only eat it out?
OMG - I love pretty much everything, Sushi, Ethiopian, Asian, Indian... I have started experimenting with "ethnic" foods at home. I made a Moroccan beef dish this week which turned out to be pretty yummy. I've just taken over cooking regularly since being home with K, so I'm pretty new to this skill. It's fun though. I'm thinking of making an enchilada pie this weekend.
4. What's the scariest and/or most adventurous thing you've ever done?
My scuba test was pretty scary, when I had to take the mask off at 60 ft and replace and clear it. I remember talking to myself telling my mind that it was not allowed to freak out on me right then. When we went Spelunking (with a friend, EV said no way, though she's gone white water rafting, and waterfall rappelling with me. Skydiving and spelunking were both on her "no way" list ;-) ) I really really loved it. Something about being so close to the earth. Even when the guide turned the lights out and we crawled and wriggled forward in the pitch black. I felt so alive. I'd love to do it again when I'm in better shape :-)
5. What are you up to this weekend?
Napping, tons of errands this afternoon with K, to get him out of the house and give EV some good homework time. The gym once or twice too. We're going out of town next weekend so this weekend is about playing catch up and hopefully getting ahead.
BONUS: Shout out to another bumpie of choice! Encouragement, appreciation, praise, etc.
I've been thinking about @manada & @healz too and hoping that February is their month. I think they'd make great parents and can't wait for them to get their BFP and take that next significant step on the journey to meeting their little one(s).
2. Pretty good! Now the floor of the bedroom .... That's another story.
3. I really love Thai food (especially green curry and panang curry) and Mexican food (Mmm cheese, guacamole, corn tortillas, etc.) and Indian food (especially at a buffet because then I don't have to choose). I tend to make tex-mex style Mexican food at home and used to make my own version of channa masala.
4. The oral defense for my comprehensive exams was pretty damn scary!
5. We went to the clinic this morning because it is M's day 2 and she has to start estrace. We are having pizza tonight and hanging out. Tomorrow I'm planning to work on planning a guest lecture I'm doing on Wednesday.
Thank you for all the shout outs!
There are so many people on this board who deserve shout outs! @2mamazinseattle, @ball.and.chain, and @herbabymama have all been really great and supportive and knowledgeable. And @doodah1013 and @firstcomeslove2013-- I'm so nervous and excited for them. I can't wait to hear their next beta. I hope it is soooooo good!
We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.
Our IUIs

Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response
