Mini cribs

Hello! I am looking at cribs and thinking of getting a mini crib from the Graco line. Our nursery is small and awkwardly shaped so I think it might fit better. Has anyone ever had one of these and was it still big enough for the baby as they grew?

IMO they are a waste. When I researched them they were only good for like the first year and most 1 year olds won't sleep in a toddler bed as they will just get up.

We don't have a lot of space in our nursery too so we decided on the round stokke crib and it is a huge space saver!

Ooh, I looked at the Stokke --- so sweet!

I had this same question, since we have a 1-bedrm apartment. My main concern is that some mini cribs seem to be not as stable as full sized cribs, especially when baby gets bigger.

If anyone has advice or experience in that aspect, I'd appreciate it!

I'm with the others on the full sized crib. DS was in his crib way later than most kids b/c he never climbed out. He *just* transitioned when he turned 3 and we loved it that way. Kept him contained, not up all night etc. I'd say many babies are in one until 2yrs+

We bought some for the twins to conserve space. They easily fit my 19m old. Cribs are pretty big and I really love the mini cribs. I wish I would have known about them sooner.

I'd also ask the nursery and baby gear board. We bought two regular cribs and they fit fine in our small 10x10 room. It seems like you may get more bang for your buck with the larger size cribs, but I'm a FTM so take that for what it's worth

We are also leaning toward the Stokke mini cribs. The are expandable all the way to a normal crib, then toddler bed, then children's bed up to 10YO. Whole we probably won't use them past the toddler bed stage, they are a great option for us. We are expecting twins and have very limited space in our apartment. I also like that they have wheels on them that lock so that we can easily move them from room to room. Good luck!

Hi! I don't have experience with mini cribs, but just make sure the sides are tall enough to keep the child in once they start climbing. One we had at a hotel wasn't deep enough so it could only be used for a tiny infant. Several of my friends have just used a pack n play for a crib and it has been fine. That is what we may do because this is our last baby and DS still needs the crib we have and we are NOT buying another crib.

I'm envious of all you ladies getting the Stokke...I fell in love with it when I saw it (especially the adorable round infant crib /bassinetwith the curtain around it) but its just so expensive...then add the mattresses, special sheets etc... We got berated at Buy Buy Baby for wanting to have a mini crib b/c they are only rated safe for up to 10months or some nonsense so I think we are just going to go with a bare bones, no frills full size convertible crib for the smaller footprint (Walmart online has a few good options). Good luck on the hunt!

We bought a crib from Walmart for DS3 and were very happy with it. We did site to store shipping and then picked it up. You don't need much in the crib anyways just a few sets of sheets and I also like the breathable bumpers. My kids got their feet stuck in the slats too many times not to have some sort of bumper and those breathable ones are really nice.

Im getting a mini crib. The one Im looking at has gotten great reviews about its sturdiness and may people said they have been able to use it well up until the age of two which would work

out perfectly for us.

I say pass on the Graci mini crib. Though it is very cute and seems like a good idea, they outgrow it too fast! We bought one for Grandma's house and none of the grand kids used it much at all.

Thanks ladies! I'm going to go with the full crib after the advice- I don't want my husband looking at me like I'm crazy if we have to buy a second crib if the babe grows out of the first!
