Some maternity photos I took

Hi Ladies! I figured while we are starting to get some more pronounced bumps, you may want to see these maternity photos I took yesterday. I really like how they turned out. My cousin is pregnant with her first (and he definitely was a long awaited and prayed for blessing), and she was up from GA this weekend for her shower. Her little man is due in April. I know I should probably post these on the photography board, but I am a chicken :-).

Taken with a Canon 60d and 50mm f/1.8 lens. Edited in Lightroom 4 with VSCO presets.

I guess I am a chicken because while I know I have a pretty good eye and have gotten good shots, I really don't know a lot of technical things about photography. My "business" is very sporadic and I really just try things as I go. I have never picked up a book or gone to a class, so there are terms and things that the photographers use that I am clueless about. I think sometimes I just get lucky with good light. I still have moments every session where I make the same dumb mistakes or realize I could have done something obvious to improve things. I don't want to come across as knowing more than I do, because I totally am an newbie still.

Maybe I will make it there soon. I just wanted to try them out on my "family" board first :-) If you don't mind.

Thank you guys so much! You are really sweet. It was a shoot where a lot of things went right: perfect light, great location, and beautiful subject. Thank you so much for your encouragement :-).

Jenn111211 These were taken at 27 weeks (I think…she is about 10 weeks ahead of me). That typically is early for maternity photos, but this will be the last time I see her before the baby comes because she is a plane ride away. If she was local, I would have waited at least a month or two because she is tiny anyway. I would say typically, for a FTM, maternity photos are done around 34-36ish weeks, and going maybe 4 ish weeks earlier than that for subsequent pregnancies if you are growing more rapidly. The rule of thumb is you want to be as big as you can be with a cute round bump without being uncomfortable or super swollen.

ETA: it is killing me that I will be on travel restriction before the baby comes (I think it is quite a bit earlier with twins). I was really looking forward to flying to GA to take newborn photos. Oh well…family photos this summer, hopefully.
